He's a hateful spiteful man. For six months he was understanding and helpful but he found out I'd had Lyme disease. Suddenly lifelong debilitating migraines and multiple head injuries that he explained were causing cognitive dysfunction became psychosomatic. He changed six months of my medical records to reflect that. I complained to Providence and they were changed back but he retaliated by lying to the SSDI judge where he was to appear as expert witness. The entire hearing focused on his spiteful lies and the judge was angry from the very beginning. I never had a chance and the judge wouldn't even allow my husband as a witness. I had six other specialists stating I'm disabled and the only thing the judge cared about were what Leonard wrote in the revised chart notes Providence removed. This doctor is a truly horrible man.

Went to this neurologist for a second opinion and thought OHSU would be a good place to go. I have been seeing doctors and specialists for 30 years. Dr. Leonard is by far the worst doctor I have ever met. Not only did he not pay attention to what I was saying, but he was also rude and obnoxious about it. I have never had a doctor insult me the way that he did. All he did was bang on his computer keyboard. He even walked out of the room to take a call during my explanation of my condition. I don't know how he's been practicing this long. He needs to retire. The biggest jerk I have ever met. He is conceded, arrogant and narrow minded. I became so frustrated with his attitude and demeanor. Seeing him was a complete waste of time and he should not receive payment for the visit. He offered no further assistance of any kind. He pawned me off to someone else and stormed out of the room with no further direction at the end of the visit. I will be making a complaint to my insurance company. I advise everyone to avoid this doctor!

Dr Leonard is a joke. This man did nothing to help me with my headaches, didn't listen to me, asked only perfunctory questions, was rude and short with me, gave me a hard time about my weight (I KNOW!) and after a long, awkward silence while he banged away at his keyboard, he insisted my headaches were migraines (they are not) then slapped two prescription meds on my issue. One of these medications is for seizures. Needless to say, I did NOT pick up either rx and ill never return to this office again. Shame on you, OHSU. You're better than Dr. Leonard.

I saw Dr Leonard for eight months. He started out being kind and caring. I'm disabled with horrible pain from constant migraines from head injuries. I'm willing to try anything and did not want narcotics. Dr Leonard never mentioned botox injections or occipital blocks. His only treatment was to try different high blood pressure medications which drove my normal blood pressure up to routinely be 174/114. I could barely get out of bed and I spent most of the time curled up in a ball of pain.As the result of Dr Leonard's referral another specialist diagnosed a rare neurological disorder that totally fits my symptoms but Dr Leonard disagreed with the diagnosis. He pressured the specialist to remove the diagnosis from my chart and became cold and dispassionate to me. He notified all my other doctors that my symptoms are psychosomatic and several had their staff cancel already scheduled appointments. It's impossible to undo the spiteful damage he has done to my credibility.

When I found a new dr. It took me a while to trust. I used to have panic attacks every time I entered his old location. I couldn't go past the ER that hurt me badly. My new Dr. Is kind, genuinely listens to me. I have found a way to deal with migraines with only one prescription, not several. I don't get panic attacks as often now when I see that ER passing by it in my car. I understand now that the care I received from Dr. L was only a business transaction. Charge my insurance, ask how many migraines you are getting in a month, hand over the script, see u in 3 months. Great system until you make him look bad when you end up in the ER. Then the next visit I would prepare myself for the cold routine. Call my name after waiting over an hour and not look at me) ( punishment) He could be very intimidating which is really wrong when you are at your most vulnerable trying not to get sick in his office and be able to communicate effectively while having a migraine.

I'd definitely recommend Dr Leonard to anyone needing a headache specialist. He took the most thorough medical history of all the neurologists I've seen in the last fifty years for chronic migraines, head injuries and multiple types of headaches that frequently occur simultaneously. I'm difficult to treat due to severe allergies to most drugs used to treat migraines and pain and after having so many doctors give up on me I truly felt that he was my last chance to get the help I need for such debilitating pain. He's always very pleasant and thorough and he's willing to keep trying different medications until we find what's right for me. I don't expect to be pain free and Dr Leonard seems committed to helping me improve my quality of life.

I saw Dr. Leonard for chronic migraines, he recommended botox and I set a date for the procedure. He doesn't have a very good bedside manner, but to me, the most troubling part is that from my experience, he doesn't know how to properly give an injection. And he most likely hit a nerve in my head (according to two separate medical doctors) causing severe nausea. I was so nauseous that I couldn't eat anything or control the nausea with medication for over 2 months. Dr. Leonard refused to even return my calls (1 week & 2 weeks after the procedure). His staff relayed a message from Dr. Leonard, he said that he, "Thought I might react like this because I asked several questions before the procedure." Which is odd because I didn't ask ONE question that day. As a health care professional, I am fairly educated in the field and when I have questions I research them before I go to the doctor. I was very disappointed with Dr. Leonard and do not recommend him.

My Mom had an apptrecently with extremely severe migraine. She came to check on botox treatment. He asked her to tough it out. she passed out when leaving office. He told Adventist to give her halodol. She couldn't take that med. Since only med dr L wanted her to have she had to leave. She passed out again on way home and taken to OHSU. There they treated her til Adventist called and said DR. L wrote she was only disapointed she didn't get morphine. Mom never asked for morphine, didn't pass out, go into shock or throw up from disapointment. Now she is flagged due to Dr. L's note and can't get care for severe (leve 9-10migraines. She's been in a level 9for 8 straight days, laying on bathroom floor unable to move due to nausea and passes out. We begged her to call Dr. L for help. She did, explaining her symptoms. He has not called back. He did this to her in last Dec/made her believe he was not even her dr. She stuck by him 8 years. He dropped and left her in torture now for 8 days.

Other docs have told me they think Leonard walks on water. He's a migraine doc, perhaps one of the better ones in the Portland area. My guess is that he may dislike women and probably is a much better doctor for men (a guy I know with a very similar cervicogenic migraine problem gets good care from Leonard while I got nothing). I suspect he's bi-polar, though: When I first met him he seemed manic (loud, clashing shirt/tie, hyper, erratic etc.) and he wrote a bunch of nasty chart notes about me. Then I saw him a few years later when he was so different I hardly recognized him (sad, placid, old grey cardigan): 2nd time he was not unpleasant but still dismissive (perhaps because he read and believed his previous **** notes). He suggested botox injections for migraine but expected me to do all the work to get the pre-authorization, but the insurance company needed things from him, so I couldn't get the treatment.

Dr Leonard has helped more than any other ADR I've seen in the past 30 years for migraines. he's very compassionate, caring and kind. I'm so grateful to have finally found him!
