Dr. Rector is amazing and so professional. The therapy has helped me develop cognitive strategies such as questioning and challenging my thinking and looking at situations from different perspectives. I developed strategies and tools to deal with things that were keeping me behind. He helped me gain all my confidence and my self esteem has improved. I have tried other kinds of therapies but Neil really reallly helped me overcome my anxieties. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Rector is fantastic. Honestly, he is the most compassionate, patient and skilled health care professional that I have ever had. He is knowledgeable, personable and so positive in his approach. This, along with CBT, has helped me understand alternate, more helpful ways of looking at my life. I felt comfortable right away from our first visit. He has helped me so much with managing my anxiety and depression, and given me the tools to get through some of the most challenging experiences that life could throw anyone’s way. He is a consummate professional and conducts himself with the utmost integrity. I feel grateful that there are people like him, who dedicate their lives to helping us when we are at our lowest points, so we can better manage and thrive. Not an easy job. I know I’m using lots of superlatives here, but they are deserved. He's really the best of the best.

I saw Dr Rector for help with anxiety and depression. He seemed knowledgeable but I just found him creepy. I was just really uncomfortable.

The absolute best ! Compassionate, smart, and down to earth. Really cares about his patients. His goal is to help you through your problems but eventually to get you functioning on your own - not to keep you in therapy forever. That speaks to his integrity. Could not recommend him any higher.

I saw Dr. Rector a number of years ago and have been debating writing this review since. I saw him when I was thinking of transitioning careers from marketing to psychology. At the time he told me that I should not make the transition and that I was unlikely to be able to successfully transition due to my ADD. As a result I decided to stay in marketing, wasting close to 10 years in the wrong field. Two years ago, I made the transition and am now top of my class in an MSW program. I also have secured a coveted placement. All of this despite the pandemic and concurrently running a marketing freelance business. It seems I am most certainly able to do it, ADD and all. I know he’s helped a lot of people, which is why I was reluctant to write a review, but in my case I feel Dr. Rector’s advice negatively impacted my career choices and confidence for almost a decade.

Neil is a straight shooter but very fair, compassionate and professional. He has a very calm demeanor and truly wants you to get better. He is very busy and can be costly (without good insurance--like most PhD psychologists) but If you're looking for a CBT expert/guru, Rector is your man. He's also an academic and professor at U of T. He's truly one of the best in his field.

Neil is amazing. He helped with effective and efficient strategies to help cope with my on-going anxiety. I haven't been to see him in over a year, but if I still lived in the Toronto area I would definitely go see him again. I 100% recommend Dr. Rector to anyone. He provides you with incredible knowledge that you will use for your lifetime

Neil is a treasure - very knowledgeable and caring. I seen several therapists over the years for anxiety and depression, yet Neil was able to identify some core issues that had not been identified previously. For me, he provides a good balance during sessions of structure and flexibility to pursue new situations or issues. I recommend him very highly.

Dr. Rector truly understands and diagnosed the true cause of my psychological issues. He changed my life. I will continue to recommend him to anyone who wants to determine the underlying cause of their symptoms.

Would have loved to see this psychologist as he has great reviews and is clearly one of the best out there, but after trying to make an appointment the receptionist couldn't figure out the schedule, promised to call me back and then never did. I clearly annoyed her and will not be calling back as I felt so unwelcome. Really discouraging to not be able to find a place with the full package...
