His staff was ok, but I was left with partial paralysis after a lumbar surgery. His response was that it didn't look like I'd gone running in a while anyway. Avoid.

Dr. Boxell performed two back surgeries, 1997 & 1998. The first surgery was going to be the, "Rage Cage Device", to fuse L4 &L5. What was supposed to be 2-3 hour surgery ended up taking 8 plus hours. Waking up in my room I found myself laying on my back with leg compression, I believe that is what they are called, my chin, forehead, and nose had been rubbed raw. My older sister came for visit the next morning, entering the room her exact words, "Oh My God" after seeing my face. Sis asked the nurses and all they said was I don't know. Doing his morning rounds Dr. B explained he could not fit the rage cage device and instead used rod, screws and pins fusing L4, L5, and S1.
When asked about my face he he was nonchalant and never gave an answer. I was discharged from the hospital and kept all appointments, physical therapy sessions. Prior to surgery Dr.B had been prescribing anti-depressant meds and all types of pain meds including lortab, percodan, and vicodan for break through pain. I ended having to use a cain to be able to walk. Almost to date a year later Dr. B suggested I have another surgery to remove the rod, screws, and pins. I agreed . Total time in surgery 2 hours and back in my room. Dr. B entered handed me a plastic container with the rods, screws and pins and I was up and walking pushing my IV stand around the halls at 11am. I eas discharged a couple days later. Though being able to ealk somewhat., i was still usimg a cain. After my second or third follow-up appointment things had come to head... Dr.B stated I wanted to be a cripple when he was done ranting and raving, i asked if he eanted to know what I think, yes he said. So I said the reason you had to do a second surgery is because you f......d up the first. He literal went balistic, i just rocked gods world. No more meds from this guy he said.....ok i left....the entire office staff was standing with jaws dropped. After 3 detox stays and therapy I have been drug free since 2000. I did not mean to to make along story here, but only to share my sincere feelings. To this day i suffer lower back and have almost lost all the feeling in my left leg. There are a gew good ortopedic doctors in tulsa and Okc. Do you homework, the reaso your thinking about surgery is for a better quality of life.

It was June1993 when I was sent to him. I regret that day ever happened. He was a young Doctor but he talked it. I look back and think why did I do this. After he done the 7 th. Back surgery I was a pain in his back. Saying he has done everything that he could. Once you have seen by one surgeon no other will talk to you. But I finally found the best Doctor in Oklahoma. She fixed what had been wroung with mo for over 20 years. I don't think he meant no harm to me. But how many years has he cost my Grand kids from hunting with them.

I know he didn't mean to, but he took my life away from me. I would give anything if I could undo what happened to me. He's a nice guy! He has probably helped some folks, but he didn't get this one right and I've lost ten years of my life. Be careful when it comes to back surgery. Try everything else first! EVERYTHING! It can be your worst nightmare and if they don't get it right...THEY WON'T be there for you, I don't care who your surgeon is. DO NO HARM is absolutely their intent, but you are inviting harm if you let someone mess with your spine.

From the initial appointment 6 yrs ago, subsequent surgery and yearly follow-ups, I have had absolutely no complaints. Dr Boxell is very personable and truly listens when you speak.

In my experience Dr Boxell is the best doctor in his line of work and more. I did not want to have back surgery then when I met Dr Boxell I understood. The surgery was great no pardware 4 small screws. My life is so much better. Not perfect but the sciatic nerve no longer hurts like it did so I would do it again in a second if needed. I would highly recommend him to anyone. My mother has had surgery by him also and she will only say wonderful things about him. I was in a car accident I was seeing another doctor that was not helpful 1 visit with Boxell I knew I was in good hands. Thank you Dr. C Boxell, Sincerely Mrs. Friday

Treated very rudely does not listen to the patient. The patient in spine cases know where the pain is. He would not even believe the radiology report. He is like a old engineer every case is the same and is never wrong. Stay away

Excellent! suffered 5 compression fractures in my back. Dr. Boxell took care of me like I was his father. He also caught a previously undiagnosed condition - cancer - that all my other doctors had not seen. Have other family and friends that have now used Dr. Boxell. Not one bad experience.
