Biography
Francisco Schwartz-Fernandes, MD is an orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon with nearly 20 years experience. He has advanced training and board certifications from the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Brazilian Society of Hand Surgery. He also served as Associate Professor at the University of South Florida for 6 years. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Growing up in São Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Schwartz-Fernandes often accompanied his father, an orthopedic and spine surgeon, to work. As he observed through his father, Dr. Schwartz-Fernandes works as a team with his patients by listening and ensuring they fully understand their diagnosis and treatment options. In his spare time, Dr. Schwartz-Fernandes enjoys cycling, horseback riding, reading and cooking.

I’m quite impressed with Dr Francisco Schwartz Fernandez’s talent as a hand specialist. He has a warm demeanor, great bedside manner and a gentle personality. He treats patients like they are family. He exudes confidence which lessens patient’s fears and apprehensions . I recently had carpal tunnel surgery. I received exemplary care. The administration staff are professional, efficient and kind. I adore the woman at the front desk. She makes patients feel like she has known you for a long time. Ms Nicole Safiano is a definite asset to the medical group. She is attentive, reassuring and compassionate to her patients. She is a master in her trade. Kudos for a job well done
