I am appalled that PRHC has not fired this doctor. They moved him from the Adult Outpatient Department to the PASE clinic where he can over medicate seniors and probably gets no flack. He has been repeatedly reported to the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons and has been reprimanded. He is a misogynist and is a threat to patients. If you or a family member is under his “care” PLEASE see someone else. He doesn’t listen and most of all he doesn’t care .

I wouldn't trust Dr. Anousirvan Adel with anyone's health, mental or otherwise.
This Doctor has repeatedly prescribed Duloxetine without giving his patients informed consent of the dangerous Serious side effects;
Changes in behavior and feelings,
thoughts and actions about suicide:
feeling angry, aggressive, worried,
agitated, hostile or impulsive. Feeling
violent or suicidal. Thoughts of hurting
yourself or other people. Feeling like
you are not yourself or that you are less
inhibited
and many, many others you can read about here;
https://pdf.hres.ca/dpd_pm/00063605.PDF

Secondly Dr. Adel worked in Pennsylvania when, after numerous successful class action lawsuits were resolved, Duloxetine/Cymbalta was only prescribed after these warnings were given AND the prescription came with a black box warning with the above very serious dangerous side effects. "Doctor" Adel knew or should have known.

Dr. Adel only cares about the payments he received from pharmaceutical companies which are in secret so he knows he'll never be held accountable.

Here's a quote from one of the lawsuits
"extreme mood swings, agitation, irritability, anger,
psychosis, electric shock-like sensations in her head…, nightmares, sleep disturbances, insomnia,
vertigo, dizziness, suicidal thoughts, self-mutilation, violent outbursts, and nausea."
https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCOURTS-insd-1_15-cv-00365/pdf/USCOURTS-insd-1_15-cv-00365-2.pdf

Here's the black box warning this "Doctor" already knew about before he started his incompetence up here in Canada;
WARNING: Suicidality and Antidepressant Drugs
See full prescribing information for complete boxed warning.
• Increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children,
adolescents, and young adults taking antidepressants for major
depressive disorder (MDD) and other psychiatric disorders. Cymbalta
is not approved for use in pediatric patients (5.1)
I couldn't possible fit the entirety of the warnings on this page but feel free to go here and check them out;

Sorry,
These reviews make me laugh !
Let’s keep the momentum people... ‘Axel- read em and weep. People hate you and can’t stand you- CAN’T TAKE A HINT ? You are a miserable man and you are rubbing of your poor spirit and people who came for help///and leave worse off- that is what you do. You suck ! Whatever you think to justify knowing people CANT STAND your practices obviously isn’t worth it. Time to get assessed. Retiring, GOOD BLOODY IDEA- FINALLY !!!
One day stumble on this realize what a screw up bad luck poor unsuspecting public had the chance to encounter the likes of you.
I came in had the bad feeling maybe didn’t want to beleive it, but your bad vibes-you can’t ignore that. I think if you obeyed to please and answered “ yes dr g-d- he would still not like you. The final straw was after complaining I missed one - two appointments- one out of my control- he the most ungracious person ever waltzed in after the appointment and announced he was on call in emerg- so apathetic and bitter- I couldn’t help but be insulted and stated just say sorry, and he argued and cut me off to say it wasn’t my fault, of course. Like they all say interrupts doesn’t listen knows it all. SNARKY SNARKY SNARKY old goat. GROUCHY OLD MAN. Mrs Adel : why ? GOOOD LUCK !

I went to see Dr. Adel after having some really bad mental health experiences. I went looking for help, as most of his clients do and instead was met with a terrible experience that made me cautious of working with doctors in order to help myself. I was already very anxious, uncomfortable, and rightfully so, emotional. Dr. Adel did not give any care to this and was a cold person. We asked very personal questions that were visibly hard for me to talk about and I was met with a stone cold stare. I know that he's been trained on how to effectively interact with a patient who is having a hard time communicating although he chooses not to. I give him the fact that he is probably over worked and Peterborough is not the most forgiving place to work in that field, however as a professional psychiatrist he should know how and when to assess and prescribe his own self so that he can properly do his job and help others. I am still angry, hurt, and unimpressed by Dr. Adel's service. I would not recommend him to anybody.

I met Dr. Adel when I was in the crisis unit and he was the doctor on call. When I was getting ready to leave the unit he called me a “junkie”- in front of several other patients and visitors, total strangers to me. He didn’t listen to a word I said when I was being assessed and I don’t know how he came to that conclusion at all.

Interaction/visits is very rushed, if you get more than 6 minutes with Dr Adel.... your lucky. withholds information.l changes medications too quickly. Not up to date on side effects of some medications.... look this up your self and challenge Dr Adel on results.
Be very firm when speaking with Dr Adel, he rends to not listen well and summarizes what you are trying to say.... incorrectly., even though he says "I understand" a lot!
Most of these reviews are on target. I would not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Adelbbspread misinformation about me to my family doctor ( that I was an alcoholic ) which was then sent to specialists I was seeing. After catching onto this I spoke to my family doctor who had the information removed from my diagnosis. I am not a drinker. My family does not know where Dr. Adele got this information.
At one point he suggested that my family doctor probably laughed at me when I left her office. I told her this and she was insulted stating nobody in her office would ever laugh at a patient.
I think Dr. Adel can be harmful to one’s sense of well being. I found him impossible to work with. He changed medication too frequently and made flippant remarks when I had some pretty bad side effects.
He has left me wondering exactly what kind of care I can receive from the medical community in Peterborough. I continue to see a
my family physician in Mississauga because of this.
I’ve heard he is retiring soon. He needs to.

This doctor shares far too much of his personal information. We have a limited amount of time and he talks away about his schedule, how busy he is and about other patients he is working with. His initial assessment appointment was good but all subsequent visits have been too quick because he says he’s running behind and he’s too busy. He complains about his hectic life. He increases my anxiety 10 fold each time I see him . I agree with another posting, it’s time he retires!
