DO NOT see Dr. Petrocelli - not sure if she passively insults her patients , or is just a nasty lady, but we (along with my 13 yr old daughter) were totally shocked by her rude comments and overall nastiness. I literally got up and left the meeting in fear she may come out with another insult about my daughter. Run from her!

This doctor should not be allowed to practice. My daughter has depression and anxiety and Petrucelli has tried to diagnose her with 3 different serious conditions (psychosis, bpd, and mania) since seeing her despite the fact that she scored far below the threshold on diagnostic tests and shows no symptoms of any of these disorders. Both my daughter, husband, and myself have asked her many times why she is suggesting so many diagnoses despite a complete lack of symptoms and evidence and she insists she can just tell. Completely improper professional conduct. We left after a few months in her care and found another better reviewed physiatrist who was able to treat the issues my daughter actually had. She is doing very well now in different care.

Rude, unprofessional and always willing to create more distress than help. Almost killed my son twice via making him catatonic with medications withdrawal and later continuation of ineffective medications for years of treatment. I should have changed this doctor at the earliest possible as per advice of the social workers.

Worst doctor I’ve ever had. The first time I ever went she accused me of having an eating disorder when schizophrenia and depression runs in my family.

After I attempted suicide, I saw her again and she told me to not Google any symptoms. I followed her advice and went crazy. I had no idea what were symptoms of my illness or what was my personality.

PLEASE do not go to this doctor, ever. Do not take your teenage years daughter here. You will get no help and the consequences will last for years. Please take your daughters to a reputable doctor.

I wasted 3 years with this doctor and have only gotten worse - of course I don’t put all the blame on her because as a patient I play a significant role in my own well-being but staying with her has done me more damage in the long term than good. I asked her to asses me for a attention disorder almost 2 years ago and was brushed off till I pressed her recently and the only thing she looked at was my grades. She said it was a along process and was dismissive of my concerns. She made the determining factor my grades because they were decent as if there isn’t high functioning attention disorders. She said I was just avoiding my work. Gives more of a conservative mom approach rather than a psychiatrist. This was my breaking point with her and upon research, I am not the only teenage girl she has failed to help properly. Thanks.

Unfriendly , unprofessional, shouldn’t be allowed to treat teenage girls. May cause more damage then help. After two years my daughter still suffers trauma after having appointment with this doctor. No effort made to diagnose my child properly. Shouldn’t be allowed to practice.

Dr. Petrucelli knows what she is doing, which is harder to find in a psychiatrist than you may think. She works with you to figure out a detailed plan if you are beginning or ending any medications and takes into consideration any external factors (exams, interviews, etc.) so that the side effects have a limited impact on your life. Nice to talk to, I felt very comfortable when speaking with her about the most uncomfortable of topics.

Dr.Petrucelli is totally incompetent, unprofessional and showed a clear 'I don't care' attitude when working with teenage girls. The wait for psychiatrist's appointment is so long and then you take your seventeen year old daughter in hopes that she would get professional help and support when she is depressed and thinks about suicide. Instead during her first visit she is being attacked with hostile questions which immediately discouraged her from seeking any type of therapy or further help. It takes knowledge, experience and also great effort and emotional intelligence to help teenager in distress. We have so much talk about with mental health and yet Dr. Karen was rude, cold, unwelcoming and caused my daughter additional stress and hopelessness. Maybe she can prescribe pills for kids with ADHD but i'd warn all mothers with teenagers to never seek her help.

I was surprised with my daughters 2nd visit on 9th Jan'2019. She was so unfriendly and rude compared to our 1st meeting. I guess she totally unprofessional while handling a teenage girl. This might lead to disastrous condition to a child.
