Dr Hassaine had my son tested for common allergies using a scratch test even though the reason we were consulting was to test for an allergy to penicillin. The doctor then informed us that she was not equipped to test for an allergy to penicillin at this particular clinic. She could see that I was not happy about having been given an appointment under false pretenses (my son and I thought he was going to be tested for an allergy to penicillin, which was the reason for the visit as we were concerned about a possible allergy to penicillin based on past symptoms), so she tried to reassure me by claiming that everything would go quickly now that she was his doctor. She said my son could be tested through her other clinic, but that I did not need to contact them; they would get back to me to set up an appointment. About four months later, I called to find out why no one had yet contacted me to set up an appointment. The staff informed me that nothing had been done with my son's medical file and that no appointment had been set up. I made a few phone calls and eventually found the doctor's other clinic to set up an appointment, which I tried to do. The receptionist at the other clinic told me to look them up on the internet to sign up online. She did not give me the internet address but I had managed to figure this out by myself, so found the clinic and signed my son up online. The clinic subsequently called me to say we were on a waiting list. About six months later, I called to make sure they hadn't forgotten about my son. They claim he is on a waiting list. I called the health line (Info santé) and other clinics to find out what I should do. They were very helpful about suggesting how to try to get an appointment elsewhere. Another clinic said he can get the test for an allergy to penicillin in about two months. To do so, my son will have to go back to his family doctor for yet another time for the same reason: to get an updated referral to a specialist so as to be able to get the allergy test to penicillin. I have set up an appointment with the family doctor. I also asked to write to Dr Hassaine but was informed by her staff that I cannot do so.
