Dr. Novak has been my GI for over 10 years. She literally has saved my life. Her care and concern for not only my physical but mental wellbeing is without a doubt one of the best. She’s a very busy Dr. and does her best to keep to schedule. Though there are times when we are delayed, she’s always very apologetic. With the passing of my dear mama, following colon cancer. She was quick to schedule me in for a scope. I’m very happy with all the care I’ve received from Dr. Novak.

I had a great experience with Dr. Novak a few years back. She saw me in a timely manner and diagnosed me very quickly with Crohn’s disease. She took all my concerns and symptoms seriously. She got me on the appropriate treatment course ASAP. She walked me through choosing the right biologic for my situation and was very happy to email me and phone me with needed information and often times at the end of her clinic days. I found she may be a type of person who “bites off more than she can chew” and would have to be reminded about little things (prescription for vaccines etc) but all of those smaller things were items that a general family doctor could (and should) take on versus a specialist.
A side note is I also found the IBD nurses working at the clinic to be wonderful.

One of the worst GI doctors I have ever seen in my life. First gave me someone else’s CT results. She is flighty, can’t sit still for a minute and scatterbrained. I would never go back.

I have been her patient for 10 years but with my current severe flare leaving me in disabling pain I have told her multiple times I am suicidal from living in this extreme pain and she refuses to sign a certificate of illness So I can take a paid sick leave she would rather see me drive off a bridge than address the mental health effects of trying to survive in severe pain. I literally told her I am suicidal and she goes "really bud you think you need 2 months off work? That too long your pain is fine"

I waited for a year to get into a consult. It was scheduled for 8:30 AM. It is now 5:00 PM and no call from Dr. Novak's office - even to advise that the appointment needed to be rescheduled (which I would have completely understood in the case of sickness, emergency or otherwise). Her office won't return calls for at least 3 days and you can never reach anyone so when I called to see what was going on I had to leave a message - maybe I'll hear back?

Also, over the years, she has done a number of endoscopes without telling me why or providing any information about my illness. She's terrible at communicating what's going on - and I'm well-educated and able to understand and follow medical advice. I shudder to think of the quality of service she would provide to someone facing language, education, cultural or other barriers.

2 ½ hours late. Prescribed opioids without proper form faxed to the pharmacy. Said she would follow up in one week, it's now been almost three MONTHS with no contact back. Next time you prescribe opioids to someone, please please follow up. Take the damn time. Also, if you know you're going to be late to an appointment, have your staff call and let people know. I waited a long time for this appointment to be completely let down. Very unfortunate. I had really high hopes and I unfortunately will say I do not reccomend seeking Dr Novac out for her services.

I never expected to have such a horrible experience with a member of the GI team. Since my diagnosis I’ve had multiple amazing GIs from the foothills clinic. I am only writing this review because I feel as patients we need to hear about others experiences to know you’re not alone and sometimes you may need to push for a different specialist. Dr. Novak set my remission back, did not monitor active disease, and was an absolute nightmare to contact. During one phone call 1) she didn’t know who I was and confused me with another patient and 2) mixed up what drug we were talking about. If it wasn’t for the nurse practitioners bailing her out, her practice would be even worse than it is. I don’t know if she is just overwhelmed or is really that scatterbrained but if you’re having a similar experience advocate for yourself and switch to another GI. She set me back my disease management so much which almost destroyed my mental health. I told her I was still wide awake and in pain during a scope and it was like she didn’t believe me. Not a surprise that I got my first major infection from the same colonoscopy. I am sure she’s brilliant and talented but she should focus on research and not ongoing patient management. She simply lacks the necessary skills of a demanding case load.

She is so helpful and knowledgeable with GI diseases. I have been struggling for more than 1/2 my life and she is my cheerleader to keep going. Willing to do any testing we have decided together, new Medications and dosages. When I felt like giving up….Dr. Kerri Novak gave me light. So thankful . Still trying to find what works for me, but at least she didn’t give up on me.

The first time I saw this doctor she was asking me questions whilst clicking on the computer and jumping up and down to go in and out of her office. She couldn't sit still. Then she sent me home with all the drugs I told her I could not take- she doesn't listen. Next time I saw her I was on the table waiting to be scoped and her conversation told me that she had me mixed up with some other patient! Did not inspire confidence. After scoping me, she said she was going to make referrals. Four months later no referrals contacted me so I called her office. They said to call certain doctors to see if referrals had been received - they had not. Dr. Novak had not sent them. So now I have to wait in line 4 months longer thanks to her. I am not impressed with Dr. Novak. She is a total scatter brain.
