Horrible experience.

Met him during consultation, at this point pleasant but sprung a minor procedure on me whiteout notice that a, I wasn’t given an option to come back for and b, added a significant cost to the visit. However this happen.

Day of surgery, just before getting rolled into the main theatre (Sydney eye hospital), he comes into the room looks at my paper work and in a very frustrated tone queries me why I even have private insurance if I’ve chosen to go public. Speaks under his breath and when I visibly got upset explaining my finances are limited - treated me like a petulant child though. I’m alone and exhausted and nervous. He was telling me how if I would have paid then he would performed the procedure. As if the person doing it was not capable at all (he had said he was an easy straight forward one so I was happy going ahead with public - I’m young and healthy).

This was not a fun mindset before going under sedation. The nurses noticed I was upset (not just visible I’m plugged up ant this point) and rolled their eyes muttering something about surgeons.

AVOID HIM.

Dr Martin went above and beyond to help me with my Graves eye disease. He got me into the best specialists from radiotherapy to immunotherapy to try to help with my autoimmune disease, his knowledge and compassion is top class. A lovely man as well.

Factory approach to patients. A quantity over quality method that fills the wait room with as many people as possible resulting in high wait times and substandard outcomes. I personally witnessed 3 complaints in a 20 minute period.
