I went to see Dr Kaal after suffering with pancreatic pain and staying in the hospital. He is very knowledgable though lacking in bedside manner (which I didnt care much about since he knew what he was doing). I am very grateful that I was under his care.

I seen this man in an exam room and only caught the right side profile of him. He asked a few question's and left. I got a call that I was to see him and not to eat or drink four hour's before yet Nobody told me what he was going to do. I just found out today that it was for an MRI; if I knew that I would have showed up but that info was withheld. I returned every call yet was told I didn't. I even phoned multiple time's between returned call's. Today was the first time I got a call back.
I find out that they were also booking an EGD. That was a new one and the first time I heard it but hey, just pass the buck onto "central booking". I was told I had to rebook this with.. central booking. Since when can a person just phone up and say, "yeah, I would like this test done.." This EGD is a scope of my stomach and after reading the review's here every cell in my body is screaming NOOOO, it will only end badly. I've been on the wrong side of medical mistake's in the past (not with him) and am familiar with this hospital. Before I ditched the car, we always went over to Wiarton. I did save one of the message's saying "we called you a month ago....." Noooo.... I didn't end up in emerge until 2-3 week's after. No body want's to be held accountable.
I seen "she" called and I called back. She's trying to rebook the MRI. I guess she book's the other thing (scope)
Yeah, I'm so glad I found this. No way is he going to be scoping anything while I'm knocked out.
There might be a part two to this. I will label it if there is.

Amazing Clinician and very knowledgeable! Wait time was very long, but definitely worth the wait. Dr. Kaal is very straight forward and definitely does not sugar coat anything which I appreciate. Thank you!

Dr. Kaal wants to do an ERCP. A scope into the pancreas. I said I had read peer reviewed papers that doing this procedure could cause pancreatitis, he discounted my comments and went on to say that, at times, bleeding occured, I'd be admitted, put on I. V. and a stent put in. I don't think so! Why cause the prospect of surgery if it isn't necessary?
The pain I've had is behind the stomach, upper left quadrant, but since I wasn't admitted, only given strong pain meds, and it didn't show on the CT scan, he said I don't have pancreatitis. I do not have jaundice so cancer can be ruled out and I had the gallbladder removed years ago..so no stones have formed. The pain has reoccurred three times since November and is as discribed in the medical papers as chronic pancreatitis. I was so angry I ended the phone call! I will contact the gastroinologist that did a scope AND a biopsy and found microscopic colitis. Dr. Kaal has done two scopes without a biopsy and found nothing. Maybe the doctor I have confidence in will agree with me. I've changed my diet, take enzyme supplements, drink lots of fluids. This makes more sense than facing the possibility of surgery.

refused talk to me about problem without doing scope on me at both ends of me,when I refused scope told me I came from out of town and think I can just come in and see him
he said he never heard of my doctor,my doctor is practicing in Owen Sound and he should have known him.He refused to discuss my concerns,he was rude and abrupt.
Either take scopes at both ends that was his final opinion,He should retire he is grumpy old man.

I was diagnosed with crohns disease in 2004 this man was my so called specialist from then til jan of 2020 when i fired him n got myself a new dr at mt Sinai in toronto, they have done more for me in the past 6 months than this so called dr had in 16 years..he put me on remicade told me it was a great drug in which i broke our in hives n was extremely sick after each infusion n he kept telling me its a great drug....well this drug was not going to help me at all because the drs at mt Sinai found scar tissue causing the majority of my crohns problems which the only way to make better is surgery. I seen them in aug n am already scheduled for surgery. Pls get 2nd opionions before u listen to this man it may save your life!!

DO NOT allow any family member see this man. He is the very dangerous combination of arrogant and incompetent. My own GP was shocked that he prescribed double the recommended dose of three drugs he tried me on. When I told him I was having severe side-effects from the drugs he flatly refused to even discuss alternatives. Later I found out that he had mis-diagnosed a friend who nearly died and was air lifted to London with a a septic gall bladder. My 30 y/o daughter- in-law was sent to this idiot who told her she was "too young to get sick". She has Crohn's. This man is DANGEROUS. Do not let anyone in your family see this idiot!!

I wouldn’t say my visit was awful but it wasn’t amazing.
He was an hour and a Half late .. and I had my 2 year old with me .... the nurses didnt come check on us once.
I asked him about my CT results and he said he didn’t look but their fine and was gonna send me home with a prescription for something else. He then was like “one second tho” and checked my CT which showed abnormal growths and he changed his mind totally pushing procedure quickly.
I am glad he didn’t send me home with prescription. But I do wish he was on time (give or take a couple min) and checked my CT before coming to see me.

I feel sorry for this doctor's staff for they get the brunt of Dr. Kaal' s substandard performance in communication and organization. My last visit with the Doctor concerned me as he confused me with another patient even though he had my chart in his hands. His ability for outlining next steps in treatment are lacking or not communicated well. I would not recommend.

I was treated for confirmed diverticulitis flare ups. Dr Kaal decided I did not have diverticulitis and started me on Vit C. Needless to say flare up continued of diverticulitis. The office staff are curt and overworked as well as under appreciated. My appointment was 3 hours before doctor showed up. I would take a pass on any future visits with this doctor.
