Dr. Stephen Traplin is an amazing doctor who listens to his patients. He has been so helpful to me during times of work stress and the little bumps that come across when we are aging. I think he is wonderful.

Do not pay any attention to the rantings of the so-called depressed person below, probably a result of alcohol abuse. This is just another example of exploitation of our provincial health system. He/she probably makes a living running to Dr. Traplin every time he/she reads something bad on the internet or has an argument with a coworker, etc, etc. - we all know the type. Those of us who DO NOT abuse our medical system need to advocate for a pay as you go system - that would stop people like this dead in their tracks and make them deal with their own problems like an adult and not go crying to what is already a strained system.
Dr. Steven Traplin is a compassionate, helpful, and knowledgeable person, and an excellent family doctor. My family has been more than well taken care of by him in the over 20 years that we have been patients of his. Not only is he a great family doctor, but he is also one of the most intelligent people that I have had the pleasure of meeting - full stop.

Dr.Traplin has been my doctor for almost 20 years and I have never had a better or more understanding knowledgeable doctor. He diagnosed my rheumatoid arthritis and referred me to dr. Benson a super specialist who put me on Symponi which arrested the further development of arthritis. I developed type 2 diabetes and he put me on on a no sugar regimen. My sugar is absolutely under control even with a bad family history. I am glad because of him I have been able to adjust to the terrible pains and aches which accompany rheumatoid arthritis. Thank god for a doctor who knows what he is doing.

He is my doctor, good guy but I can say I basically lost employment cause we would not fill out paperwork saying I can go to work with out having a seizure, I have worked 30 years and he will not respond to me, my employer, or the MTO. But I do like him maybe just not the best guy for me as I need paperwork and it’s not happening. The company has offered to pay and everything but he just don’t even respond.

If there were other options, I would drop this guy as my doctor in a second. I've been experiencing an ongoing medical issue (with alarming symptoms) for over a year. Every time I get a test, I never hear back with results or next steps. I've asked for a referral to a specialist due to lack of knowledge and lack of adequate care. Twice there has been a problem with the referral but no one called me - this has added an extra 3 months to a year-long wait to get into the specialist. If you have this man as your doctor, you absolutely need to advocate for your own health and follow up aggressively - Don't trust that you will be taken care of or taken seriously.
He also prescribes pills like no ones business. My first ever visit to him, I left with 3 prescriptions I didn't need.

Dr. Traplin has been my family Doctor since I was a child and I never really had any issues with him until I got older. I tried to go to him for anxiety a couple years ago and (despite the other reviews saying all he does is give away meds) he refused to give me anxiety medication. He told me to come back when "I lose sleep over it" but I didn't take no as an answer and he prescribed me a half dose of Lorazepam and wrote "take for sleep as needed" on the bottle.
That story was just a warm-up. Bipolar disorder runs in my family and lately I have been really struggling with mental health. I recently had a telephone appointment where I told him I wanted to be referred to a psychologist so I could get properly diagnosed with something. He said; and I quote, "You don't sound like someone who is depressed."
I then told him how much I am struggling with doing chores around my apartment and he then compared me to his daughters friend who has ADHD. He told me I have a good job, friends and I'm sleeping well so I just don't sound depressed. I then took it to the next level to convince this man that I need help... I told him I self-harmed for the first time recently. THIS MAN says, "Well... that's not... too bad" AND STILL REFUSES TO SEND. ME. TO. A. PSYCHOLOGIST! Then he told me he could "prescribe me anti-depressants" but he still didn't think I needed it. He tried to prescribe me something I DON'T EVEN HAVE A DIAGNOSIS FOR. Anyway, I ended the call with him telling me he'd message his mental health guy about talking to me, then said it wouldn't be for a couple of weeks.
Before saying goodbye to me he casual told me to "not hurt myself anymore" and it "doesn't help anything" and I decided I would never go back to him.
I'm still in disbelief about this and I genuinely confused because it wouldn't have effected him AT ALL to send me to a psychologist.
