In that Dr (so called doctor) Clapp is an actual medical doctor, people who need a good doctor should really read between the lines to understand why this means bully has so many negative reviews
It is very abnormal to have as many negative reviews when his job is the least technical in the world of medicine.
After a major spinal fusion Clapp bullied his way into my my treatment and took my case over without reading my chart or having any knowledge of what I had worked out with my primary care physician and my counselor at my own pain clinic
I had never heard of this guy or met this guy didn't have a clue who he was in the next thing I know he's making decisions on my well-being.
I'm shocked to see he's an actual MD because I thought he was just some office guy at Porter hospital who tries to keep them from getting sued running interference for Porter hospital because they are such a mess.
The negative reviews regarding clapp seem to be the more technical cases where the patient needs a doctor who can read a chart the positive reviews seem to be cases were any medical professional doctor nurse mailroom guy Can get things right without reading a chart because I really don't think Clapp understands how to read a chart.
My situation wasn't that complicated but did require someone who knows how to read a chart to get it right
On Facebook my name is Ted Brown pool cues Hit me up if you would like further information or need proof for what I'm saying Peace ...

"DONT HAVE DR. CLAPP attend and manage your pain medications. Take the time and read about his reviews. Prior to my surgery I met Dr. Clapp He was kind and professional in the begining. HOWEVER after my surgery he changed his attitude 360 and was very unprofessional with a bad attitude becuase I called his PA and she told me by Colorado State Law they couldnt provide me with additional medicine. I called his office and requested that Dr. Clapp to call me and which he did but went off on me and flat out accuising me that I called too late. He didnt offer any options excepy for me to call my PCP or find another pain doctor..after about 2 weeks I called and received the same answer from Clohe.. if we do the math I did have some pain medication but so why would I ask for more medication.. I was within the time window. I checked my folder and there was nothng to read for post surgery. He lied to me again saying I had a list of doctors and instructions which was also not in my folder. I did a background check on him and found many other complaints by his patients with the same complaints. Its like he is bipolar and a perfect example of being a narcissistic and really doesnt care about his patients.. just the money!!!

Dr. Johnathan Clapp pain managment specialist. He is the kindest and most genuine man I have ever met. He will fight for you against insurance and pharmacy's. He defends his patients and stands up for what's right while trying his best to restore your quality of life. You would be lucky to have him as your dr I know we certainly were.

I came to this doctor when mine retired. At first he was kind and helpful. But when the current pain regiment wasnt working all he would do is up my dosage. A friend mentioned another medication, which I asked about, he said we could try it, gave me a sample packet. It helped a little so he again just upped the dosage. I ended up on the HIGHEST you can be on. It's not the safest med you can be on as it is. And insurance wasnt too keen to approve that amount. When I'd have headaches (later found out it was due to the dose of that med) he would just refer me to a new doctor. He doesnt look into what is causing the pain. I was later discharged from care because I wasn't improving. Got into a yelling match that I wasn't doing anything he told me to do and not helping myself. I was given a list of doctors and rehab clinics and told something a doctor should NEVER say to a patient. I left his office in tears, sobbing. He has absolutely NO compassion for his patients. If he had actually done his job and looked into what was causing a good portion of my pain, he would have actually found something besides the blanket diagnosis I was previously given. (I was 23). Horrible bed side manner.

To be clear- I just posted a review. I only saw Dr. Clapp in the hospital. Not at his practice so I do not know his staff to give them a rating but I still think my husband deserves a phone consulting fee :)

I found Dr Clapp to be the worst doctor I have ever been too. My experience started right out of surgery when he would not order me a PCA. I had my back fused from T11-S1, a very large surgery and it was my 6th surgery on my back..I woke up in excruciating pain of which I rated a 10/10. I am an RN with pain management experience and ICU experience as well. I know what to expect on both sides of the bed, as a nurse and as a patient. All my previous surgeries I was given a basal rate dose on a PCA and I could push the button for an extra dose. AlI I expected was to just get me over the hump of intense pain so I could go home but this Dr. Clapp would not listen to me or my husband, who has 37 years experience as an ICU nurse. (Boy Dr. Clapp will know I wrote this now, I don't care!) He did not even listened to my concerns. He contradicted himself early on when he called me the night before with reassurance that he would treat my pain in a quick and effective way. He did not treat my pain effectively or quick. Even the recovery room nurse told me she did not understand why I did not have a PCA and when I was discharged to the floor I was still in pain. My husband had to ask him why I was not given a PCA on the phone. I heard the entire conversation. He asked my husband as to what dose of IV pain medication, right after surgery, I was given in the past. Prior to this surgery I was not taking hardly any narcotics-just a Percocet at night and 1 in the a.m. I am not a drug seeker and in fact was able to hike and play golf prior to my recent back issues. I was finally set up with a PCA but it was 24 hours after my BIG surgery. I am not here to tear down this guy but to offer him some advice-actively listen to your patients and find out everything you can about their pain history and what medications worked for them in the past. That's what RNs do with their patients because it works. This last surgery was horrible but I needed to have it. The last thing a pt like me wants to experience is horrible pain. I have realistic pain management goals. I probably will always have some pain.I have a copy of my surgical report and post op care report.. I have a couple of concerns I want to address #1. a PCA is the best thing for a person who is used to taking narcotics. In your report you state that it is not to be given to someone like me.You feel the opposite is true. Your wrong. #2. You stated that I was taking a couple of meds that I was not taking, also you have in your report that I am a former smoker. I have never smoked in my life not even ONE cigarette. I want to also address the people here who chastise the other people for stating things that would, should I say, not seem very positive towards you. Not all people are drug seekers. I did not want to be hospitalized anymore past the 1st day but knew I had to stick it out until the surgeon discharged me. Yes and to the other "reviewers" (relatives?) on this site who feel they have to defend you from other reviewers who had a negative experience-Yay that's great. Just do not use this forum to attack the people who had a negative experience. The accusations of "Drug Seeker" you made about another reviewer is disgusting! OH and I feel you should ask my husband what his consulting fee is.

I've had continuously increasing pain over around 20 years. My GPs (2 different ones) would just have me bend this way and that and throw some painkillers at me and call it done. Dr. Clapp was the first to order x-rays and actually diagnose what was going on. He helped me through both the pain management options (for which I am seeing Dr. Clapp) and directed me to a very capable practice to investigate options to repair my scoliosis and prevent further progress.

I'm not a fan of pain medication. Generally, unless I can't walk I'd rather be clear headed and in pain than the other way around. In a lot of cases there are multiple options, just ask and try to communicate your issues as clearly as you can... but, you've also got to be good at listening (I've started taking a notepad with me to doctor appointments ;) ).

I have been a patient of Dr. Clapped for 2 plus years now and he is the best! These other posts that are negative is NOT the doctor I see. If you don't work at getting better or take drugs as prescribed, he'll refer you somewhere else. He told me if I didn't stop smoking he wouldn't be able to give me pain medications. That was the motivation I needed because after 5 spine surgeries I do need narcotics to help me get through my day.

Don't bash him! I owe him getting my life back and figuring out what nobody else could!

Personally, I have NEVER been treated in such a disrespectful manner by a member of the medical community. I went to him for help. I did not want drugs, I wanted a diagnoses and help. He treated me like I was a drug seeker and/or crazy. And to the person below who has the nerve to pass judgement on someone they don't know anything about, shame on you. There are drug seekers, true, but I am not one and based on how Clapp treated me, I tend to believe the other person isn't either. BUT, even drug seekers deserve to be treated with compassion and respect, not tossed aside like a piece of garbage. He should not be in this field of medicine!
