Ratings for Dr. Richard J. Moulton
Saved my life! Still great full! As Wellinton said about Waterloo - it was a damned close thing!

Last year my husband had brain cancer. He had tumors removed from within the skull. Post surgery he had a bump protruding that was painful. He was in constant pain.
Around that time he had Brain CT and MRIs to pinpoint the tumor locations and prepare for cyberknife radiation.
During a visit to Dr Moulton to address this bump that was causing my husband tremendous pain and discomfort, I told Dr Moulton about the tests. Two things happened that should not have and that were ultimately my husbands demise (he passed away).
Dr Moulton touched the bump (it was quite visible) and denied he could see or feel anything. We were stunned and confused. He dismissed it as nothing and told my husband to just sleep in the other side of his head and take Tylenol. He was rude, dismissive and argumentative. When I told him we just had a brain CR and MRI in preparation for cyberknife radiation on the other tumors, he could read those and we could have this one treated as well - he flat out told me I was wrong and no such tests were done!! There are two ways to access this information and he could have looked but didn’t. As well, Dr Moulton did not record anything from our visit. Had he done so, perhaps the radiologist reading the brain scans would have looked there and found it and it could have been treated, shrunk, been less painful and invasive. He blatantly disregarded the issue.
He and I disagreed and he couldn’t care less. He didn’t bother to check for the test results.
Because it wasn’t done - It spread and my husband suffered needlessly. The fact that a radiologist reading the results of a brain cancer
patient didn’t check the whole head scan, frustrated us. Ultimately my husband passed away. I would highly recommend if you have him as a doctor you make sure he follows protocol and documents visits and findings.

Had surgery to resect a large Schwannoma tumour on a peripheral sacral nerve. On January 8th, 2021.
The same tumour was resected 14 years ago but it returned. It’s impossible to remove the tumour in it’s entirety as it’s grown into my sacral nerves and full resection would result in paralysis.
Dr. Moulton was knowledgeable, kind, patient, compassionate and understanding.
I suffer from an anxiety condition and a couple of times I lost my composure and was blathering on in a ridiculous manner due to anxiety, Dr. Moulton retained his kindness and patience and never once did he make me feel like an idiot. In fact, after surgery I was blown away when he told me ‘none of this is your fault’, he has no idea how grateful I am for that comment and how his comment has enabled me to treat myself with more compassion. For years I’ve blamed myself about what I could have done differently to not have this tumour, this anxiety disorder, the obesity and the autoimmune disease I also have.
Dr. Moulton operated on me in a timely manner. He even had the first surgeon who operated on the tumour assist him with the second surgery.
The nurses who work with Dr. Moulton were exemplary. Nancy was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She did excellent wound care during my follow up appointments. Dr. Moulton even arranged for home care for me for a few months upon my discharge from hospital. I had no idea at the time how much I needed a few months of home care and it was greatly appreciated.
The aftercare with Dr. Moulton and his support staff was above and beyond what I expected.
I was terrified to have a second surgery on the same tumour due to my aftercare experience 14 years before with a different surgeon.
My surgical fear was not due to the first surgeon himself (who was very kind), but because of his dismissive secretary, lack of adequate pain management and aftercare. Dr. Moulton understood my apprehension and gained my trust enough for me to allow him to try to resect the tumour and improve my day to day quality of life,
Dr. Moulton also discovered a second tumour during the surgery that he was able to remove entirely. When I stood up after surgery, the heel of my foot was able to touch the ground for the first time in about a decade!
There was a chance I could have lost the use of my foot but that didn’t happen. I’m able to walk with less pain then I’ve had in many years. The nerves that were agitated during the surgery have mostly healed with post surgical nerve pain resolved everywhere except my left foot. The nerve pain in my foot has resolved to a point where I no longer need to take Lyrica for pain management.
Unfortunately, this brilliant, knowledgeable and compassionate surgeon is now retired but I am forever grateful for his care, and the wonderful, professional care of his nursing staff. He managed to gain the trust of a traumatized person who thought they’d never trust anyone to operate on that same tumour again. He has restored my faith in surgical care and for that, I am also forever in his debt.

my husband had seen this doctor, and was told he was probably diabetic, without looking at bloodwork, and did not do a complete neurological assessment accurately. Very poor bedside manner.

After reading all the comments, I was really worried and scared to see Dr. Moulton. To my surprise I found this doctor to be attentive and caring and of course very knowledgeable. I felt like I was in good hands and have total confidence on any procedure he might have for me in the future. Would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Dr. Moulton performed a Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion in December 2016. When I woke up in the Recovery room he was at my side to see how I was doing, later once back in the day surgery unit he was in again to check in with me. He seemed to be very positive and we had a couple of conversations about different things. On my follow up appointment in January he came and chatted about the progress and assessed me to see how things are. Give me clear instructions in how to proceed over the next month with my recovery. I found him to be very clear to understand and a pleasure to deal with. No complaints from me with this Physician.

Dr. Moulton - not the chattiest. Big deal. I was not looking for someone to hold my hand. I cannot rate his surgical skill as I was unconscious during the brain surgery but he did save my life. Enough said.

We were just in his office this morning. Due to the fact that he spent less tham 2 minutes in the room I am solely rating his disposition and professionalism. He had a complete lack of respect and social etiquette and based on the below comments I would gather he didn't just wake up on the wrong side of the bed. I understand that as a health care professional you cannot invest yourself emotionally in all of your clients however, kindness and respect for other human beings and delivering your message in a professional way is something that should be done without hesitation. I only hope that Dr Moulten and his family members never have to deal with someone as arrogant and disrespectful in a time of crisis.

I visited this man 5 times b4 surgery. After surgery I have been in worse pain ever b4. He did an unsuccessful fusion that left me disabled. I am glad this doctor is no longer practicing. Please be aware1 any one left under his direction should be aware of the risks. He destroyed me.
