This doctor was one of the rudest, self-absorbed, meanest people I have ever met. He was on-call and assigned to our daughter after her suicide attempt. He didn't speak to her, ordered a young intern (and his patients) out of a small room to interview us, and did not introduce himself. We heard about his big house, fancy car, successful children, successful life, stable mind, wonderful education, long career, etc. He didn't care that this was the worst day of our lives and almost fatal for our daughter. He thought her first month at university, a strange city, new classmates, living on her own, working full-time, murder of a co-worker, AND practicum at a mental hospital were irrelevant!! Thank God we were able to sign her out the next morning before he started treatments! May he never have the opportunity to head the department. Dr. Shukla's personality and perspective should never be allowed to come into the contact of someone who is mentally ill. He is a menace to the mind.

This Dr. has been widely criticized for not being caring, for being rude and has an overall bad reputation-this is for good reason I have seen him in action and have watched him play "god" with patients meds and then when things go wrong and the patient turns up missing after weeks of begging for any kind of help, he does nothing. He will avoid calls for help from family, friends and the people that care for his patients. I hope patients out there do not fall prey to his "shotty" practices and are able to find real help. A good Dr. or Health Care provider can at least try and make it right or admitt when they are in over their heads.
