I was referred to Dr. Paterson after having spent about a year with a catheter on account of my closed prostate. He personally called to acknowledge receipt of the referral, to explain the HOLEP procedure, and the estimated wait time. I felt greatly relieved by his personal call, and now more hopeful that my problem could be solved.
His office staff person Kristina, always friendly, helpful and patient, shepherded me through the arrangements.
I met Dr. Paterson on the surgery day. He was most friendly, reassuring, and even with humour.
Hospital staff were also most attentive and supportive.
Less than 24 hours elapsed between my hospital checkin and discharge. I walked to the hospital at the start, and walked home again at the end. Had no pain, no discomfort. The whole affair felt surreal, like I had stepped into a spa for a quick wellness treatment.
I thank all the people involved in making this small miracle happen.

I am a nearly 85 year-old, active woman who was terrified of having a four-hour surgery to remove kidney stones. Dr. Paterson and his staff were amazing - he reassured me and made sure to communicate in language I understood and his skill in the operating room was bar none. His nurse, Kristina, took my calls, fielded my questions, reassured me and was extremely patient. One week later, the stent is out and I can resume my active life. Thank you from the bottom of right kidney, Dr. Paterson! You are the best.

At 58 my issue with BPH lead to urinary retention where I was catheterized, put on meds and placed in line for surgery. I chose to do the HoLEP laser prostate surgery with Dr. Paterson.
The whole staff and procedure were top notch professional from the pre-op to post-operative care I received. I felt no pain. Ninety grams of benign tissue was removed and the next day I went home with no leakage issues. It has been 3 weeks and I’m amazed with the results. I feel blessed and very thankful to have been placed in Dr. Paterson’s care. There is a reason why his waiting list is so long. For me it was well worth the wait!

Dr. Paterson is the best. I had a chronic issue that compromised my quality of life for years. His surgery-which fixed it--went well, and after a few weeks I was a teenager again! Such a nice difference to my life. Not only that, Dr. Paterson is a true professional and a caring doctor; never too busy and always happy to clarify everything. He must have helped many, many people.

I had an ongoing issue, which caused pain and numerous doctor and ER visits, that went improperly diagnosed for a number of years until I saw Dr. Paterson. Dr. Paterson was professional, knowledgeable, and caring. After two surgical procedures, he was able to determine and fix the problem relieving me of an issue that cost me time off of work and significant pain. He is by far the benchmark by which I will forever more evaluate caregivers who should all take a lesson from him in bedside manner.
