Dr. Burkholder is the best OB in this area! He has a wonderful bedside manner, and is willing to explain anything you ask. He is extremely thorough in his explanations, and is always on the side of his patient. What a blessing for our family! I highly recommend Dr. Burkholder and his staff.

I have been with Dr. Burkholder for about 4 years now and he has been great. He has always explained things in a way that an average person can easily understand. I have had two surgeries with him and everything has always gone smoothly. His office is definitely busy, but his experience is worth it.

I hear that this doctor is one of the best OB in lubbock. I don't know if he is or not since I didn't see him even when miscarriage happened and there after. His nurse Gwen never tell us to do blood test at very beginning(4-6 weeks) so that when we realized (8 weeks) that the progestorone level is too low and fetus stops to growing, it is already too late!! They are just too busy to see you....if everything of you is fine, maybe he is right choice, if you have any difficulties , you should reconsider since maybe you need an OB can spend more time on you rather than a guy full of fame.

He was always late. He pressured me to induce even after I explained at every appointment that I wanted to deliver as naturally as possible. When I wouldn't induce he became irritated and told me that he would be on vacation on my due date - this was at 38 weeks pregnant!!! Another doctor delivered my baby and I had to fight with my insurance to pay Dr. Burkholder because "I switched doctors." I tried to contact Dr. Burkholder to see if he would waive the fee that I owed and just accept the 80% the insurance was willing to pay. Basically, he said it wasn't his problem.

He delivered my baby in 2005. I had to wait an average of 45 minutes to 3 hours to see him, one time almost 4 hours and there was another patient who waited even longer. He does pressure you to induce. He will gladly do an elective c-section if you don't want to go through labor. Overall, though I trust him and felt safe with my baby being delivered by him.

Dr. Burkholder delivered both of my children in 1988 and 1991. He is the kindest, most caring and doctor I have ever had the privelege of knowing and if I still lived in the area he would be my OB/GYN today, 20 years later! I drove the two hours from Hobbs to Lubbock for each visit with both pregnancies and deliveries just to have him as my DR. In his defense, there is a reason he is always late- that is because when he is with YOU he stays as long as YOU need him to - answering YOUR questions! A rarity in world of physicians! I will wait as long as I have to in order not to be rushed out and have my questions dismissed. My mother was very worried about some complications I was having and he was so kind and considerate with her and all my family members. He was a true blessing and we still have not forgotten him to this day and my babies are now 20 and 23! I wish we still lived there so he could deliver my grandchildren! Dr. Burkeholder is very experienced and is a reputable doctor you can trust. I used him for my first but decided to switch for my second. The reason is because he was always, always running behind and I usually waited at least an hour, sometimes 2, even once was close to three hours. My new dr I only had to wait once and that was understandable as he was delivering a baby. I believe that Dr. Burkeholder double books people for appointments. OTher than that though, he is a great doctor, though he will get annoyed if you ask alot of questions. I would trust him again. He will gladly do an elective c-section if you just don't want to go through labor.

I love Dr. Burkholder. He has always been the most caring doctor. He has solved many gynecology problems for me when other doctors could not find the problem or made me feel it was all in my head. I am now free of the problems I had before I started going to him. I understand in his line of work that punctuality may not be the top score. I know babies need to be delivered at unexpected times and I also know that when he is with me that he will give me all the time I need to answer questions or solve problems without feeling rushed. Since he may be doing that same thing with someone else, I do not mind waiting. Dr. Burkholder is one doctor that I trust and will stay with him as a patient as long as he is in practice.
