I visited the clinic last week. It was suggested by Dr. Richard to bring a chart with two weeks of data for my blood pressure and what I ate. I was immediately criticised for eating two sandwiches, some candy, and two cookies during that two week period. I started seeing him just over a year ago when I was 198 pounds and he suggested cutting carbs and sweets, so he was disappointed to see that I ate sandwiches and candy. I was further discouraged because he asked me to step on his scale, which he told me was 195 pounds! I was extremely upset about this because I had weighed myself at home that same morning and my scale read 178 pounds. BIG DIFFERENCE, and I couldn't understand the discrepancy. He then told me how proud he was about my progress, but my mind was not open to him since the only thing on my mind was his criticism. He saw how upset I was and asked the nurse to weigh me on another scale at the office, that scale read 180 pounds! I now realise the first scale was way off, but after my second weigh in I was in no mood for further discussion with him as I was still devastated by his original remarks. I have consulted with a dietitian and am thinking of getting another doctor.
