Pure and Simple.... he brought me back to my old self with compassion, humour and good judgement. More importantly , he saved my life.

I orginally went to see him for some anxiety and thought I'd see if meds could help. He is quite kind and tries hard to help his patients. But I had a terrible experience. I had a bad side effect to a medication he put me on. My hospital notes stated as much. But Dr O'Doherty told me I was "severely mentally ill" and that I wouldn't work full-time again, even though I was working successfully when I started psychiatry. I was on 5 or 6 psychiatric medications. I couldn't function at all and was suffering more than I ever had in my life. He wouldn't listen that I needed to get off all the medications, and said I had to stay on them for the rest of my life. I asked to try to go off them, but he refused and stated if I did he would discharge me. This would have meant losing my disability due to non-compliance with treatment so I felt trapped. I managed to get another psychiatrist, who said I was "wronged by the system" and agreed I would do well off the medications. I withdrew from the meds, which was very difficult due to withdrawal effects, and I mostly recovered. Off the meds I was able to return to work. But now I have very low energy and my mind becomes exhausted so easily that I can barely manage to work and have to take time off because I get exhausted so easily. Although I feel much better than I did while on those horrible medications, I don't think I will ever be the same person that I was before I took the medications. I wish I could go back in time to when dealing with some anxiety was my biggest issue. I believe seeing a psychiatrist was the worst mistake of my life.

This doctor is compassionate, knowledgeable, and completely professional. He essentially saved the life of someone very dear to more than once. The most knowledgeable and helpful psychiatrist they ever met. Even never having met him I am so grateful to this wonderful man.

Dr. O'Doherty is a brutal butcher! He was very harsh on me. When he can't fix your problem, he blames on you. He prescribes useless medications that only have tons of side effects. Those were my darkest days when I was under his care.

The good dr. Is l lier and conveniently "forgets" the side effects of the medication and laughs at his patients for their misfortune! If you don't know what the side effects are until a day too late you shouldn't be working at a hospital.

Dr. James J. O'Doherty is an experienced, ethically-degenerate ermine who intentionally misdiagnoses people into patients, for money. He furthermore doles out drugs to his patients like candy to children in exchange for 'alternative benefits'; and consorts with the known 'drug-whores' of the Ontario pharmaceutical companies. He is a well-rounded, well-reputed, well-entrenched social misfit and of the general and special Type 1A physician, with expertise necrophilia psychiatry (NP). He keeps good standing and company with his colleagues and peers within the Tertiary: Dr. Robert R. Sheppard, Ms. Melanie Morrow, and Dr. L.J. Jutchinson. Dr. James J. O'Doherty is a leader in his field by sheer example. a.k.a "The Truth Fairy". He uses people as human subjects upon which to try out his latest theories and state-of-the-art drugs.

Dr. O'Doherty is a terrific doctor. He treats patients with the utmost respect, kindness, and compassion. As a female with issues with men I was hesitant about seeing him but forgot about my worries within the first 5 minutes of talking to him. He genuinely cares for his patients and I am very thankful I have access to a great doctor like him.

It’s been 8 years since I was seen by Dr. O’Doherty but from time to time (like this evening) I think of him & how he not only saved my life but changed it for the best. This doctor did not give up on me, he listened to me & did whatever he could to ensure I was ok mentally. With 2 small children at home & my depression at its worse - he made sure his staff was checking up on me. He got me on the right meds, I started working out & found hobbies - he truly is an amazing doctor & will do whatever he can for his patients

Dr. O'Doherty saved my life! He was thorough in his diagnosis and consistent with his appointments to meet with me. The medications he prescribed had me feeling like myself fairly quickly..... and in months, had me feeling better than my old self. He was warm and caring and did everything he could to help and care for me. My mom (who is a nurse) was so impressed that she wrote him a big long thank you letter. He has wonderful bedside manner and is truly a blessing to any patient who gets the opportunity to be treated by him. He truly is my guardian angel.
