From the outset of initial consultation, this doctor was abrupt and rude! I can't emphasize enough how rude, and ill-manner he was towards my 70 years old parents. They were following the recent covid-19 procedures such as wearing a mask and social distancing during the session. He abruptly told my parents to face the other way instead of facing him as if my parents are contagious. He is not professional at all. Told my parents ridiculous stuff like he is so busy so if they want to be followed by him they need to learn to wait. Seriously, are you the only doctor in Coquitlam? The college definitely need to further investigate his practice. This doctor even told an elder that she is so old that she doesn’t need a vaccine and told her to leave instead of wasting time. This is not acceptable. His comments are unprofessional, uncalled And clearly ageist. This needs to be addressed. Any kind of discrimination should not be allowed in any settings. I could have brushed off dealing with such a rude service but after witnessing what my parents went through and other elders left me deeply upset. Definitely need to address this so innocent people won’t get emotionally affected by this unprofessional behaviour!

He shouldn't be a doctor, PERIOD. Being a doctor doesn't only mean diagnosing and treating patients. Then you're just a bookworm. It also involves communication and relationship building with the patients, which is equally as important. Go into research if you don't like being around patients. "Dr" Ko is just busy rushing patients out and is extremely rude to the point where he makes the patients feel horrible after visiting him. Absolutely horrible and I also heard of others talking about malpractice. College should investigate at this rate.

We have been looking for a new family doctor. I heard he recently moved from Alberta to Coquitlam. I felt like I am being investigated for the whole time of a few visits. He asked so many irrelevant questions. He was very rude, and I felt so humiliated. He is the worst doctor ever in my whole life.

I have never felt compelled to write a review on RateMDs but Dr. Ko really needs to read these reviews and make some changes to how he practices. This was the worst experience that I have ever had. It is clear that he is not treating patients on their first visit and telling to get them to come back another time so he can bill Alberta Health multiple times. The clinic was empty and he was running around as though he was the busiest doctor ever. I waited 45 minutes for him and there was no one else there. He entered the room and stood by the door the entire time, as though he was ready to run out. My first concern was something incredibly simple and instead of giving me the prescription, he told me that he needed to send me for X-rays and that because it was Christmas time, everything is closed so I should come back to him next week and he'll give me a referral. Why couldn't he give me a referral that day so I didn't have to come back? Hmm.... I thought, okay fine, it's your professional opinion to send me for x-rays but telling me to come back next week for a stupid form?! Excuse me? Since I was there and he couldn't help me with what I came for, I thought I would ask him about a female problem that I had been having that over the counter medicine wasn't helping. Not only could he not use the correct terminology (he started playing charades and motioning instead of using the word 'vagina') but he told me that he couldn't perform a pelvic exam that day because he was understaffed and... you guessed it... to come back next week. Why in the world would I waste my time coming back 'next week' to a doctor that brushes off two of my medical concerns? I went to the walk-in clinic just down the street near the RemedyRx and was in an out with my prescription, a pelvic exam and an explanation of my condition and the next steps to take. I'm sure Dr. Ko is experienced and knowledgeable but my constructive advice to him would be to sit down when you're talking to patients instead of standing by the door ready to make a run for it, make patients feel like they're important and that their time is more important than yours (no one is impressed by you claiming how busy and stressed you are... we only care that you focus on us), and don't try to tell us to come back so you can bill the government more... your patients will just go elsewhere.

I've been looking for a Korean doctor since I was new to Canada. I randomly found this doctor on online and called to book an appointment, wish I knew it was the biggest appointment I made in my life.
I sent my mother herself since I was busy at work, obviously I didn't worry about any difficulties of communications they would have since the doctor Ko fluently spoke Korean fluently on the phone call. He pretended he cannot speak in Korean language face to face, yelling at my mother with asking how come my mother didn't know the name of injury she was having,( how the hell is she supposed to know the freacking medical words in English). I wish I can post a video how he acted to my mother.
EVERY NEW KOREAN PEOPLE WHO ARE NEW TO CANADA, I HOPE YOU TO READ THIS BEFORE MEETING THIS DOCTOR. KEEP AWAY FROM HIM.
