Left practice high and dry January 2024 so previous comment is mute.

Been family doctor for eons, Lupian and Landers before…. Well he pulled roots up at end of January 2024 without informing any current patients. Always thought when a practice was closed down that all had to be informed. The scramble was on, but found a new practitioner closer to home. I might add that my main concern was for the prescriptions I need. Would never prescribe multiple refills which caused all kinds of issues. Thankfully pharmacies can get you over the hump.

The most caring doctor for over 20 years.
Kept close tabs on my blood sugars and blood pressure. After having to leave his original location ...he was not happy.
There are no words to describe how much I will miss him especially his return calls late in evening when he knew he could reach me. Take care.

Wholeheartedly agree with the previous comments. Everything about the doctor and his practice has declined. He needs a computer system in his office, unbelievable in this day and age. His office person is totally overwhelmed and at times seems intimidated by the doctor. I am not comfortable going to him, but don’t have an alternative.

Dr Bottega used to be a great doctor. I have been with him for over 15 years. Over the last couple of years things have deteriorated. It is more and more difficult to get an appointment. He always runs very late and when you do get in, he spends your valuable patient physician time complaining about the government and how doctors are treated.
The office is unorganized with charts everywhere.
He has recently been very vocal about his anti Covid vaccine views. If you personally don’t want a vaccine that is one thing, but discouraging your patients from getting it is another.
I would not recommend this doctor to anyone anymore. I think he has lost interest in his patients. Time to retire!

Terrific Doctor. The complainers are usually the ones that want the easy way out in life.

I saw this rating for Dr Bottega and had to respond. Dr Bottega has been my doctor for 22 years - he truly cares about his patients. Many times while my husband was ill he would call us and see how he was doing. He is a very compassionate doctor, pushed for my husband to go to a specialist and basically gave my husband an extra 4 years because of his referrals to different specialists. If he is not familiar with symptoms he does go above and beyond to find someone that knows how to treat the condition. I am very lucky to have him as my doctor

Not a good Dr!
- He doesn’t do what he says he will do - don’t want to hear how things are downloaded back to family Dr’s - just want him to keep his word & do his job
- only 1 thing per appt - even though they may be connected & getting appts are difficult to get in a timely manner
- marijuana is the gateway to her ion even though it is a proven pain med amongst other things - and there is a CBD marijuana (pot without the high) that is a huge help for chronic pain without the side effects & addiction of pharmaceuticals
- not computerized so things get lost or misfiled
- He can be arrogant & vengeful- admittedly I have missed appts however I have been on opioids for numerous years - called Wed before long weekend needed refill - closed- Thurs told couldn’t get in - explained situation- she spoke to him & was told I had to wait 2 weeks- WHAT??? You can’t just stop taking them - you have to ween off them - we’ll you can call each a.m. & see if we have a cancellation- I finally got in 1 week later but not without withdrawal symptoms
- he was to send me to a pain clinic, order an MRI & do another referral- 6 months later I need to redo pain clinic forms cuz they were outdated now that he got around to sending them, that was early Aug I believe. In mid Oct I got a new Dr & asked for my file going back 2 years. I repeatedly called every week or 2 & Darlene (receptionist) kept saying she’d ask him again. In mid-Jan I had enough & said I was going to file a formal complaint. Got a call back almost immediately that the file would be ready the following Tues. as a side note - he did make my referral’s after I got a new Dr - probably so it wouldn’t look bad, but it’s ridiculous & not acceptable that these steps needed to be taken for him to do his job
- he is always far behind - doesn’t respect the patients time - maybe he should stop bitching about having to much work to do to each patient - cut the small talk & social hour stuff & move on to the next person
- will only do diabetic checks 1 day a week - yep sorry if you work that day - lose wages because that’s his schedule
- I get that he wants to keep things local but the Hagersville diabetic clinic is of poor quality yet wouldn’t refer to Hamilton (even though that’s where I live)
- on a positive note - there are other Dr’s that are capable so just keep looking you will find a Dr that will be helpful - DO NOT go to this Dr - you will not be well served
