I had 2 surgeries the end of Sept., both performed by Dr. McAlpine. I met her just prior to surgery and was very impressed & comfortable being in her hands for OVC debulking surgery. As a matter of fact, it was so nice to hear the hospital staff (nurses & Drs) say such wonderful things about her, amazing compliments!! My 2nd surgery was exploratory abdominal, of which a diff. Dr. came to discuss with me (possible kink in bowel). I was being transferred from UBC Hospital to VGH on a Friday night and as I was being loaded into the ambulance , Dr. McAlpine appeared, she rescheduled her family life & said she’d be performing this surgery as well. I was in awe, talk about a caring doctor!! By the way, this surgery was performed late on a Friday night, so you can see why I’m very impressed by the care I rec’d. Thank you Dr. McAlpine and all the care you gave me. Much appreciated.

Dr.Mcalpine is the most overrated and uncompassionate doctor you will meet, especially in the field of a Gynecologist and ONCOLOGIST. The staff from the surgical team booking are difficult to deal with and unwilling to help you. Mcalpine is perfect for females that are post-menopausal as she is ready to dismantle if you have a condition that requires extra care to your reproductive organs. She is unreachable and will get frustrated easily if you ask questions or want more options (which is your right). I decided to go with another route in the states because of the lack of support. she MISDIAGNOSED ME (super early on without proper care) and I had a successful surgery which was the complete opposite of what she had planned for me. If you are a young woman of child-bearing age with a possible malignancy, PLEASE do not settle for her and get other options! They inform you that the team at women's hospital all works together and discuss your case, which is completely a lie as I met the entire team from residents, fellows, and senior staff, and her, ALL said different things to me and only met Mcalpine on the day of surgery for 10 minutes before my surgery. The lack of care was disgraceful from her doctor that is so prestigious by word of mouth but don't let that statues of her think you will get the best care! I rarely do reviews on things but I do not want any women to think she is the best of the best.

they gave me an appointment apparently when I arrived there they didn't even know who I was I felt I was hit by a running truck I spoke my head and asked myself I cant be this genius to figure this doctor workd=s here tis time today I knew its corruptions sadly

I had vulvar Vinn3 removed by this doctor on December 8 2017. I had seen my gynecologist who told me that he was sending me to a" professional " for removal as he believed due to the size and location of the lesion I would need a skin graph. I saw Dr. McAlpine who stated that she would not do a skin graph. I stated that I was told I needed one and she just said"no, I'm not doing that and proceeded to draw a picture of a vertical line with horizontal lines through it as her procedure.
Within 1 week of the procedure I began to bleed and developed a infection Just sitting on the toilet stressed the surgery site and in ripped open. I spent from December 22 to the 31 st in the hospital. I had to go to the Or twice to clean the site. Now I have a gapping hole and require plastic surgery to repair what she did to me. I am in constant pain and very depressed . My road to recovery will be long and painful because of her lack of knowledge or caring.

She did my LEEP procedure and going in I was beyond nervous. She was very gentle, and quite funny actually which helped a lot. She talked to me during the freezing process so I never even noticed what was happening. The LEEP itself took like 30 seconds max. I left th hospital feeling like nothing had been done! Anyone who is nervous about this procedure, don't be. It was a total breeze.
