Dr, MacKenzie replace right knee in 1999 and left knee in 2000. He is the most amazing surgeon/doctor I have ever had and his work is 100+. After 22 and 23 years I have just been referred back to him to have my TKRs checked. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will take me back as a patient but do understand that he is cutting back and planning retirement. I'm waiting for a hip replacement right now and so wish that it was going to be Dr. MacKenzie doing it but I'm not living in Calgary now so had to see an orthopedic surgeon in the north country. I feel ever so lucky that my TKRs this long and are still not giving me any real problems. I had been told that they would last 10-15 years and here I'm at 22 and 23 years. Sure says something for Dr. James MacKenzie.

Dr Mackenzie replaced my right hip in 2013 and my left hip in 2014. They're both are functioning flawlessly. Dr Mackenzie has the best bed side manner of any specialist/surgeon I'm had to deal with. He is very personable and caring. Jaelynn, his right hand person, is very pleasant and helpful. Overall an amazing experience for a surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Mackenzie.

I really am shocked to see all the 5 star reviews for this doctor! Had a knee replacement by Dr. Mackenzie which left me with a 13 mm short leg, as measured by x-ray. I now have to have my shoes altered (lifted) on one leg to straighten my spine and lessen the pain from spinal stenosis while standing/walking. He never even came up to see me after the surgery as most docs do. I had yo go to emergency the afternoon of the surgery as my my surgery site was bleeding so badly the blood soaked my pants on the way home from the hospital. What a disaster. Will never allow him to perform any further surgeries on me.

My second TKR and I am up and about in 3 weeks with full range of motion. ..off pain med in 10 days. I am following directions to the letter and cannot wait to be a productive member of society. Dr. M and team ultimate professionals a bench mark for all. I am grateful that I will have quality back I sm so grateful.

I had a right hip replacement on June 22nd 2021 and my experience prior to surgery, same day of surgery and days post surgery was outstanding. Dr MacKenzie was caring and responsive to questions I had; staff were also kind,timely and responsive to my concerns/questions (specifically Jaelynn.....Case Manager and Tricia....... Administrative Assistant). I found Dr MacKenzie and his team outstanding.

I had a bilateral knee replacement and my surgery and recovery went flawlessly. The prep and follow up was excellent. The support staff (notably Jaelynn) were outstanding. He was highly recommended and exceeded my expectations.

Amazing surgeon and doctor who cares. I can not thank Dr. MacKenzie enough for doing hip resurfacing on my right hip. I had lived with chronic pain in my right hip since I was 18 yrs old. I was turned away by other surgeons because I was “too young, not properly medicating for the pain”, and even “being female”.
Dr. MacKenzie truly gave me my life back. I am officially 9 months post op and went from not being able to put on a sock, to being able to ski, cycle, hike, and keep up with my 5 yr old son all without any pain and full range of mobility.

I had a bilateral hip replacement 6 weeks ago and my recovery has been 2nd to none a resounding success This doctor has returned quality of life to me. I would definitely recommend this doctor he is helpful and caring.
