I find her to be impatient, rushed all the time, doesn't listen. I hope I don't have something bad happening to me because I don't trust her to listen to me.

good experience, she is very smart and I think she dresses well. That very unprofessional comment from someone with a son in medicine, you should be ashamed with language like that, and certainly your son did not get his good genes from you. Your extreme xenophobic(google the word if you don't know the meaning) remarks is uncalled for, and if you have not noticed, if it was not for the south african doctors in this town, Kamloops would be in bigger trouble than it already is.

This very young Dr Idette botha (lower case b is meant!) is a very rude impatient Dr who has already assessed you before you speak. I had an unbearably sore throat for a month and finally decided to go to see a Dr for something.... I usually try to heal myself and not run to conventional medicine. Well she said it was viral and would go away in 10-14 days! Even though I'd already had it for a month and could barely swallow! She wouldn't listen when I told her that I really believed I needed a prescription. She just said she had seen me and was done and walked out of the office. What a waste of Canadian taxpayers dollars.... send her back from wherever she came from... south Africa???? I am so glad my son is in medicine and will be our personal Dr soon! Then Kamloops will have a fine Dr... none of this rude cutting sleazy B*i*t*c*h in tight skinny jeans that doesn't listen to her patients. I believe what they are taught to do is ... LISTEN TO THE PATIENT! At 50 years old I think I know my body better than she does! If you get her I would highly recommend leaving her office and going elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!

I was a patient of Dr. Botha's when she first arrived in Kamloops. I was pleased to have a young female doctor (my original doctor had retired) and we got along fine. I was surprised when she told me she was leaving to do a Doctors' Across Borders type practice but that another doctor had agreed to cover her patients. That doctor lasted a year and then returned to his 'love' the ER leaving me once again with out a doctor. I did not realize that Doctor Botha was back in Kamloops and back in practice. I called Riverview Medical clinic and explained my history but was told that I was a new patient, there was no waiting list and basically to not bother them. I was also told by the receptionist that Doctor Botha had never left. I am curious to know what Doctor Botha's response would be. My ratings are more based on the conversation I had with her staff member - took forever to answer the phone and could have cared less. I would think that providing information to their employers would be part of the job.

( IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THIS DOCTOR HAS ISSUES WITH CERTAIN TYPES OF PATIENTS ) Being in the medical field it appears that Dr. Botha already knows what she is going to suggest even before she walks in the room (that is if its already noted it has to do with something other then physical). I have rated her very high as it is deserved, but I do wish she had a little more compassion for people who struggle at times. I feel if I never went to her with some personal issues, my treatment as a patient after all this time wouldn't have changed!!! I guess I should have never revealed a weakness because when everything was just cuts and bruises (maybe broken bones) our doctor/patient relationship was good. You should never have to get prepared to see your doctor and hope she isn't going to make you cry after you leave. So if you need a doctor that you can find at a walk-in then she is the one. If you want someone to hear you, then look somewhere else! Dr. Botha works less then she is a doctor- that should say something right there!

Dr Botha is absolutely amazing. She's very caring. I've just had a health care scare, and she's very compassionate. I'm so happy to have her as my Dr.

I have been seeing Dr. Botha for about a year now. I am a 24 year old female. She has always been very sweet to me and has never made me feel unimportant. One time I was twenty minutes late because I forgot about my appointment, and she saw me no problem and with a smile. It makes me upset to see that some people are harping on her so badly. I can only imagine that these people who speak so ill of her are a.) hypochondriacs and/or b.) think that doctors need to coddle them to be "good." Dr. Botha has been awesome. Would definitely recommend her.
