Had a crushed left temporal lobe after major head injury and coma done surgery during coma and and put a titanium plate 11cm x 12cm 4 months later to cover brain and Multiple visits to him after with doctor but 100% happy with his surgical skills and his attitude of explaining causes of my accident.

This is a POST that someone else posted AND when I seen Dr Atkinson in 2019 I HAD the same thoughts !!!!
Here is the post I copied and pasted that is almost exactly the way I felt at the time !!!…….
I saw Dr Atkinson two days ago and I am still upset of the treatment he gave to me. He was self righteous, arrogant and kept cutting me off when I was trying to answer his questions. He called the pain specialist I had seen a week earlier a mere anaesthetist and who was I going to believe. He made me feel very uncomfortable and upset. WorkCover are aware of this and still use him. Other specialist have had many complaints about him. Wake up to yourself. You are a nasty old man.

NOW here is MY REVIEW OF
PROFESSOR LEIGH ATKINSON ……
Apart from feeling the same way as the person that left that review , PEOPLE ON WORKCOVER NEED to know that Professional Leigh Atkinson is the Doctor that Workcover send you to , To CLOSE your Workcover Claim, I was on Workcover for 2.5 years and I require L4/L5 Spinal Fusion ,
At the time that I seen Dr Atkinson I was taking 28 DIFFERENT tablets/Painkillers per day !!!
Dr Atkinson said to me “Do I know how much MORPHINE I am taking each day?? “ I said NO , and he told me I was taking the equivalent of 450mg of Morphine per day , BUT it was still NOT helping with the pain .
Dr Atkinson IS NOT a stupid man !!!
He knows if you have a LEGITIMATE injury that is causing the PAIN REQUIRED to see HIM .
He called my Pain-specialist
Dr Matthew Keys a Pain Doctor and simply an Anaesthetist that’s ALL he does , (Which peed me off)
UNTIL I received the Medical Report the Professor Atkinson wrote about me , and MAN I WAS SHOCKED !!!
I did not expect a good report !!!!
Long story short , IT BACKFIRED ON WORK COVER because Professor Leigh Atkinson Declared me 15% WHILE BODY DISABLED !!!!
Which to this day for someone that can walk, Sit and Stand for a MAXIMUM of 15-20 minutes at any time , AND is NOT A QUADRIPLEGIC that can’t do anything , I have found out that 15% Whole Body Disabled is the 2nd Highest Percentage.
I was TOTALLY SHOCKED .
And as Workcover WAS NOT happy with he’s report I was sent to see ANOTHER Independent Medical Examiner.
YES I have read 99% of the Reviews about Professor Leigh Atkinson , Everyone has there own opinion about him , BUT you need to remember HE is the Best at what he is required to do .
If you Do Not have a injury that requires you to see him do yourself a favour and DO NOT SEE HIM !!!
He can see through the B/S and crap that people TRY to scam the system !!
Hence why he has been doing HIS job for so long and hence why and How he designed the Pain Program that he has.
He’s NOT RUDE , He IS TO THE POINT !!
YES I will admit I wanted to punch him in the face !!!!
But when I left his office with my wife , Everything he said seemed to make sense of how I was feeling , Oh and I forgot to mention that the pain I am in mixed with the amount of Medications that I was taking I attempted Suicide 3 times before I seen Professor Leigh Atkinson, the VERY first medication he told me to get rid of was LYRICA !!!
He told me that Medication alone will make you suicidal.
I have a Lawsuit Against Workcover because they closed my claim in November 2020.
I would LOVE to see him again and shake his hand .
As I said at the start , Haters are going to HATE . !!

Dr Leigh Atkinson saved my Son’s life in 1978. No words can describe how grateful I have been. An amazing wonderful Doctor.

Thank you Dr Atkinson, you and your colleagues saved my life in late 1994. I had and cerebral aneurysm and I know how lucky I am not only to be here still today but also without any on going brain damage thank you so much to you and your colleagues at that time.

Dr Leigh Atkinson operated on my Dad at PA Hospital 1996 on a brain aneursym, other Neurosurgeons didnt give my Dad a good outcome of survival. Thankfully for us Dr Leigh Atkinson took on the operation and next week my Dad turns 80, this Dr is a champion and our family will never forget all he did for Dad.

Absolutely the best Neurosurgeon in Australia operated on my crushed left temporal lobe November 1980 after a accident was in a coma for a month but to the level of the head injury and his knowledge he will be always in my mind for saving my life.
