When we first saw Dr K. My father really loved her. She demonstrated to be approachable, friendly and overall knowledgeable. Bloodwork showed that my father was anemic but Dr K never probed deeper to figure out what the problem was. Dad continued with iron and blood transfusions at the clinic. His health progressed up and down. When we questioned what was the cause of anemia, Dr k did a biopsy but told us she had a hunch that nothing would come of it. As time progressed my dad was in the clinic twice a week for blood transfusions till the point that they couldn't get an exact match. Dad loved Dr K but as his health deteriorated Dr. K became distant. Treated him like he was non existent. One of the nurses in the clinic told us "to let him go". Meaning what: let him die and just watch. Dr. K just treated the anemia she never tried to figure out what the cause was. In the end my father passed away loving a doctor who did not even take the time to say "hello" in his last visit at the medical daycare. I know that there isn't a magic pill to save everyone's life but there is much more to medical care than what Dad received from Dr. K. Initially she was nice and seemed to have a plan of action. As we went through her plan for dad we realized that there wasn't a plan at all. The way that she treated my father as a medical professional and her bedside manners was totally unacceptable. I always wonder if dad would still be alive if she had taken the time to investigate what was going on in his body. I do NOT recommend anyone to this doctor. Your life depends on it! :) RIP Dad.

I was paired with Dr. Kukaswadia after I was diagnosed with multiple blood clots in my lungs, of unknown origin at the ER of Humber River regional hospital in August 2020.
I had three telephone consultations with her(due to the pandemic) before she finally did a bone marrow biopsy on me in March 2021 which immediately lead to a diagnosis of leukaemia. Thankfully, I was treated at Princess Margaret thereafter.
At our initial consultation in answer to my question of what could have caused these blood clots, her cavalier response was:
“We probably will never know what caused these clots”-and there after dismissed my efforts to get any differential diagnosis.
This attitude pervaded her treatment of me which was distant, unconcerned, verging on condescending, and downright poor.
In the time I was under her care, all I got was a prescription for iron pills -despite the fact that my blood clots and my low blood cell counts and occasional fevers would suggest a possibility of cancer somewhere in the body(probably in the blood).
I feel she didn’t put any effort or study into my situation( for example, comparing my normal blood test in September 2019 with my abnormal one in August 2020) and wonder why this would happen) . She was not proactive but only reactive to the fact that, despite my blood tests, I was feeling relatively OK until the end of January2021 when my health declined significantly.
At our February conversation, she opted to do a biopsy and said it would be done in two weeks time but I was booked in 6 weeks - again no effort or concern on her part to ensure that a possible blood cancer diagnosis was expedited.
A bone marrow biopsy is the most definitive test to determine if and what type of blood cancer exists.
Apparently, she postponed this test because she had a ‘hunch’ that my condition was some pre- cancerous condition( due to my clinical “wellness”).
This lack of being proactive in do a definitive biopsy shows either an arrogance about her diagnostic abilities OR a laziness to preform a biopsy until there is no other option.
The bottom line is that I found Dr Kukaswadia to be a poor and distant diagnostician/ clinician and should be avoided when possible. Regardless, one needs to strongly advocate for yourself -which was my greatest error.

Dr is wonderful but the secretary is so rude. I can't handle her she keeps saying I canceled my iron infusions and I never called her canceling any infusion. She seems that does not understand the language well. She call me and blame on me all the situation but I never called her canceling my iron infusion. I am so tired of this secretary. Very Rude the secretary and is not the first time I notice it.

I am very disappointed. Goli, the receptionist is super rude and makes decisions she is not supposed to. Goli ignored my voicemails and assigned multiple Iron infusions I previously had refused to repeat, as I am highly allergic to them. Then, she left me a voicemail threatening that if I would not do the infusions Dr. Kukaswadia would not see me anymore and that I would have to go to ER. Dr. Kukaswadia is just careless. There is no point to see a specialist just to get a prescription for something you are allergic to, and does not help a chronic Anaemia. It would seem they have some kind of business with the infusions as I keep being prescribed them even if I refuse to take them. For the last infusion I accepted, they sent me to the downstairs pharmacy on Keele st, where I was supposed to get a discount, but they just took my insurance card and not only I did not get any discount but they did not apply the insurance percentage. When I noticed it, I had to go back and complain to get a refund. The whole experience has been horrible. I am glad a doctor friend recommended me a supplement that has worked way better than any of those horrible infusions.

The doctor is great, I've had no issues. But the admin lady at the front desk is extremely disrespectful and not helpful at all. I really hope that one day Dr K gets a new admin so I don't have to speak to this one anymore.

Dr. K: run don't walk. No communication, at all. No interest in listening to me, taking a history or responding to my request to do blood work first before a biopsy before EVEN MEETING ME. Meetings scheduled by snail mail, regardless of what may work with schedule or if I'm even available. No one answers the phone. No one at the clinic communicates between each other. There has to be a better way. Just the worst experience I've ever had and I've been a patient of Hemotology for over 10 years.

Doctor told me I don’t need to get a test dose before putting me down for intravenous iron although I told her that I’m an allergic person. I almost died in humber river from an anaphylactic reaction to the iron due to the doctor’s dismissive attitude and carelessness. After this incident she did not even bother to call and check up on me.Worst doctor ever.
