Dr. shouldbemcGONEigal is the most unprofessional doctor I have ever encountered in my 26 years of life. He started the appointment off by questioning I was even there....then proceeded to read the referral from my family doctor, only to further question exactly what it is he had to do. (Already upsetting behaviour as he is questioning the professional judgement of my family doctor). To be fair, I also did not know why I was referred to this doctor, but I just do what I am told. Turns out he had to review an MRI I had on my thoracic spine. He did everything but that....instead he chose to question my competence, scrutinize my workout regime, and make me feel like my presence was a colossal waste of his time. Once he figured out why I was there, and after he finished belittling me, he asked me to stand up and he "examined" the area of my back in question. I mentioned that I did experience back pain and that was a contributing factor to why my doctor wanted me to get an MRI in the first place. He asked me to move my head left to right, up and down, and all that jazz. Then I went to lay down on the table bed and he asked me to lift each leg separately and then together. Once this was done, he said to me "the issue is you are heavy, and unfit." Naturally, my eyes widened in shock and disbelief at that accusation (keep in mind I move my body 4-5 times per week including strength training, HIIT, and yoga). He then proceeded to ask me "what, you don't agree that you are unfit?" I was floored. I am no Victoria's Secret model, but I am definitely not unfit. This man's perception of "fit" is extremely outdated and problematic. The outcome of my visit was that I needed to "lose weight." Keep in mind, I came in there for him to review the results of my MRI. As I was walking out, he said the MRI is all clear and that he reviewed it. So...if you reviewed it before I came in for the visit, what was the need for the interrogation regarding why I was there at the start of the appointment? This man has DISGUSTING bed side manner. I can only imagine what those comments could do to someone who struggled with body image....classless, despicable, outdated, bigoted behaviours from someone who is supposed to be a "professional." I left feeling ashamed, embarrassed, dismissed, invalidated, and hurt. I have let this sit for a few days and I am still deeply offended by these comments. I recognize that this will probably not remove him from his practice, but if it could help someone from being seen by this disgusting man then I have done my job. I will also be making a formal complaint to the CPSO.

Dr. McGonigal is a very professional doctor. He listens to your problems. He then tells you his assessment. I find him very upfront and to the point. We should have more specialists like him.

Pathetic doctor. Doesn’t listen to any of my problems and tried pushing me to get expensive needles. Did not even take any tests himself before suggesting this. The only question he asked is if the needles were covered by insurance. This grumpy idiot should retire instead of being miserable at his work and providing pathetic healthcare.

I had my right knee replaced by Dr.McGonigal 4 years ago. It is today considerable worst than the left one which was not touched. I learned in the mean time that he removed my kneecap as well. The Dr. that told me so shook his head in bewilderment.

Sure he was punctual, but that was it. He had the bedside manner of a flea. He insulted the ER doc and the radiologist who read my xrays, said they didn't know what they were talking about and that there was no fracture in my foot. But how could one tell with all the swelling I had? He should have done his own x-rays, but he didn't. And I thought the surgeon who botched my surgery at that hospital was bad, they're the same.

He has dealt with my wife and I on a number of occasions. He provides an honest diagnosis and referral if not his speciality. Without question the best medical practitioner we have ever experienced.
