aw Amanda primarily through two pregnancies. With my first baby, she was amazing and supportive. When he unexpectedly ended up in the NICU, she came by to see how I was doing and she called several times to check in after he was home. With my daughter I began having extreme shortness of breath at 28 weeks. I was seen in L and D by another midwife who told me it was asthma without listening to my lungs and sent me home. The next day my hands and face swelled up and I began having joint pain. I had to see the same midwife who told me again this was all asthma, anxiety or carpal tunnel. I made a complaint and less than 2 weeks later I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks. Thankfully they were able to stop it. My next Appt was with Amanda and she lectured me on the complaint, said I was too emotional and that “no one wants to work with someone who thinks we’re all incompetent.” I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 38 weeks finally and Had a placental abruption, PPH and a Very sick newborn, which could have been avoided.

Although I have seen several Midwives at Essex County OBGYN in Danvers throughout my pregnancy, Amanda has stood out with her kind mannerism and patience. She has taken the extra time to educate me on things I need to know without me having to even ask the question. After several midwives suggested I see a specialist about a health concern I had regarding a birth defect, she was the only one to refer a Doctor to me and have an appointment set up. I was having difficulties with some of the pregnancy side effects, and she let me know what I should do to alleviate some of my troubles. She goes above and beyond. I was waiting over an hour for an appointment because the Midwife that I was scheduled to see, who was not Amanda, was running behind. Amanda volunteed to see me, even though she was done with all of her appointments for that day. I didn't want to burden her, but she insisted it was not a problem. I was so grateful. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with Amanda Carritte.
