Was not surprised to see reviews with identical experiences to my own. After extensive questioning and note taking on his computer, and complaining about his computer, he simply suggested CPAP. I had very few awakenings that were caused by respiratory issues. When CPAP didn't work he said he a CBT group therapy session would be arranged in a couple months, and if they don't contact me then I should call him back. Not surpringly they never contacted me. No other advice given ... Sleep hygiene ....nothing

Dr. Powles had been extremely disappointing and unproductive. After two sleep studies showed zero deoxygenation, doctor Powles refused to discuss any sleep issues,(lack of delta wave sleep or restless legs) other than compliance using CPAP.
Given the fact that he gave contradictory answers to the same question on consecutive visits he either does not pay attention to the patient's question or is lacking knowledge.
Additionally, he is extremely unprofessional with his patients. As mentioned in other reviews, during my second visit with Dr Powles, he spent his time dictating notes to his computer and then a half hour arguing with St Joe's technical support staff over the quality of his booking software interface.
I suspect that he is so focused on CPAP treatment that he is unable to begin an adequate differential diagnosis.
Frankly, this is a one size fit all CPAP distribution physician who is app to do harm if he's allowed to continue in the fashion.

Treated my daughter and helped her with her sleeping issues. Staff were kind and helpful aswell as patient. Dr Powell can seem a bit standoffish but makes up for it in his knowledge when dealing with medical issues. My family recamends him whens child needs help.

After over a year of testing, only a CPAP machine ever given as an option, and when that didn't seem to do anything, I was just released. I suspect this isn't a "sleep clinic" so much as a make-work project for funding, supplemented by selling CPAP machines. Even when I brought up seeing another doctor to help me with my sleeping (ears-nose-throat doctor), the referral that was promised never happened. I've since heard from a few others who have had similar experiences.

Very poor patient centered care, no patient education at all (actually barely even any speaking), and most importantly, a questionable and almost GENERIC treatment plan that my other care providers disagreed with..Most of the appointment was spent scribbling notes and he barely assessed me. All he did was give me a CPAP machine with pressure settings that worsened my sleep and left me more tired and depressed. Treatment almost seems very cut and dry especially considering my case was mild and non existent in some sleeping positions. please arm yourself with questions and question your treatment plan if you have any uncertainty. Ask about other options.

Dr. Powles was punctual, a careful listener and willing to outline several options for my mild sleep apnea, and then encourage me and give me excellent advice about my choice. Excellent.

He is excellent, if you're patient, respectful, and mature.
A lot of the reviewers here seem to be rushed and looking for a miracle cure.
Nobody can snap their fingers and fix you. You're never going to be happy if you live your life that way. Dr. Powles is very patient, takes the time to figure out what the necessary next steps are, and he is very professional and knows what he is talking about.

Every single appointment runs an hour late. Only interested in booking repeat appointments so he can keep billing for superfluous visits. Wastes appointment time reading a chart instead of being prepared for each patient. Doesn’t listen. I work in healthcare and wouldn’t wish this doctor on my worst enemy.

Dr Powles is a great doctor. There was a significant wait time but understandable as he is a specialist. My questions were answered and I never felt rushed. I called his office a number of times with questions and his secretary is very nice and pleasant. Overall I was very happy with my experience!
