Dr. Arends had my SO on a medication that was negatively impacting his mental health. Although these concerns were brought up to him, he failed to mention (or just didn’t know - which is still an issue) that the medication he prescribed is actually not ideal for my SO’s reported symptoms (it wasn’t until a later date when my SO met with a different psychiatrist that we were told that the medication he was prescribed by Dr. Arends was a very poor choice, and likely worsening his symptoms). Our concerns were shared with Dr. Arends and he did end up writing a script for a different medication, but when a prior authorization was required by insurance, Dr. Arends requested 50 dollars (on top of what was already paid for the visit itself) to fill out the prior authorization form. Clearly, without the PA form the medication couldn't be filled. Dr. Arends is much more concerned with how much money he can make rather than actually helping people who desperately want and need it.

I saw this man years ago, when I was weak and vulnerable. He was inappropriate. No joke. If my life hadn't been falling apart at the time, I would have taken action. As it was, I had just discovered one of my kids was being molested by a family member and my future ex had dissolved every penny of our assets. I just walked away. Caution.

A horrifying interaction like NOTHING ever experienced. We took my mother to have her evaluated for memory decline. Within 10 minutes, he became visibly agitated she wouldn't recognize her memory loss, told her she has Alzheimer's & said it was a very "dire situation". He was hostile– with a woman who was already anxious & confused. He justifies his cruel delivery by stating he is an expert & it's what she needs to hear. He should reconsider how he says what he says. I would NEVER recommend him.
