I was a patient of Dr. Luis Quinonez and Dr. David Ross in 2009. I wa sin the hospital for 2 plus months. I was at the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Alberta. Unexpectantly, at the age of 26, I had 5 open heart surgeries in 2 months and I had a chronic infection, which is very rare for someone very young. Dr. Quinonez did a thoracotomy after they found the vessel in the heart while performing the surgery, was punctured, causing blood in my chest wall and cavity. Dr. Quinonez came in, performed the necessary surgical procedures and helped in many ways. His rapport was friendly, but not overly. He was very much a cardiac surgeon and even a little arrogant at times. But he was a very thorough and knowledgable and but I could tell his life work is always focused on Cardiology. I knew before he mentioned anything that he was married to a doctor as well in 2009. I think if they had children, life would be different. He is a very smart man but I could tell he wants to be known, respected for his position, work and his achievements. He always said he worked at the Mayo Clinic, sense of prestige, especially for men. I believe that one should be hard working but also try to remain humble...no matter how much they accomplish or achieve. Anything could happen to anyone at any time, I believe when you have faith in God, he is the one in control ultimately, not any doctor. I hope all doctors realize this one day. They are not higher than anyone and in the end, it is God that determines our life and what occurs. I wish every patient of Dr. Luis Quinonez the best; a safe recovery and protection always. Dr . Luis Quinonez, if you are reading this, one day, thank you for your conversations, her expertise, performing the necessary surgeries and helping in my recovery over 13-14 years ago. It was always appreciated. Thank you Dr. Quinonez. ~Shiney K. (Alberta, Canada)
