Rude, dismissive...I talk, you listen and follow my instructions. No questions permitted. Slather on cortisone in thick layer like whipping cream, not sparingly.

Seeing Dr Lam was a negative experience, as she was not helpful, knowledgeable or empathetic. She did not seem to care about helping me, and did not have any interest in listening to what I had to say. She prescribed something that I made clear I had already tried, and had not worked. Made a rude and comment about my skin condition as well. I found her to be a very ignorant, uncaring and cold Dr.

I am referring Dr. Lam to a colleague and after reading some of the comments, I felt compelled to add in my two cents. A few years ago, in his 50's, my husband started getting lesions to his skin, which eventually settled to his head in the form of a type of cradle cap, D
espite numerous lotions being prescribed by his g.p., and several months of no success, he was finally referred to a dermatologist, that being Dr. Annette Lam. In one visit, Dr. Lam correctly evaluated his condition prescribed the exact medication required and almost immediately the condition started to dissipate! Contrary to the below comments, Dr. Lam knew exactly what she was doing and we were both so grateful to her for her expertise!

I think any doctor who treats their patients with no empathy are horrible doctors. She is one of them. Actually yelled at me! Because she was asking me how i was, and i told her not that great cus i was hit by a car while crossing at a crosswalk....and she yelled at me because i was upset! Whaaaaat???? And her remedy for my foot itch was cream yhat hasnt worked for years, yet she still prescribed it. Sign of a bad dr. Avoid her.

Horrible, horrible. This is not a personality clash. She is just plain rude. Also keeps giving the same prescription medication for a skin condition i have had for over a decade, even tho i have told her it is not working and my symptoms continue and reoccur. She also abrupt and does not allow enough time for you to ask questions, which is an important part of medical care. I have changed drs and will never go back to her again,

Dr.Lam is a very friendly, caring, compassionate, knowledgable doctor. She was late for my appointment because she spends time with her patients, explains everything thoroughly and offers options. Plus, she apologized for keeping me waiting!! She was well worth the wait. The gentleman in her front office is also so friendly and welcoming. We are so fortunate that she has chosen to serve those of us on the island.

I do not understand how people can make negative comments about Dr. Lam. The Dr. Lam who looked after me is compassionate, knowledgeable and very helpful. When she retired from her office in North Vancouver, she made sure that she finds me another good dermatologist to look after me, transferred my records to him and reassured me that I will be well-looked-after. This is a sign of a good caring doctor. People dislike and bad-mouth certain doctors often because of personality clashes. They expect their doctors to be like waitresses who should talk softly and cater to their wishes (including what type of medicine they would like to take). I just want to set the record straight. Dr. Lam is a good doctor and should be appreciated.

Dr. Lam is working out of Qualicum Beach a few days a month now, to help with the fact that dermatologists on Vancouver Is. are booking a year and a half ahead. Although she is very busy, I was thrilled with the attention she gave me, and her warm certainty that my long standing problem can be controlled. Dr. Lam gave me the first hope I have had in over three years, and I thank her very much for it.
