I was referred to Farrah due to several objects in my ear(s) under the skin. They were causing extreme pain. Farrah examined me for roughly 15 seconds and told me "there nothing there" even though my ear lobe looked like 2 marbles were placed in it.

I had a fried who was a nurse cut out 1 of the objects. I went back and showed Farrah. When he saw it, he said "I can't help you. I hear plastic surgeons handle things like this." I said "this is proof there's something there!"

He again, said "I can't help you." When I asked why, he told me, "well, since I didn't take that thing out of you, I can't help you." I was stunned.

I went and paid out of pocket for a Ultrasound (at Ultrasound America) and it showed at least 6 objects in my ear. Anyone wants to see the Ultrasound images and Radiologist report Ill be glad to show it to you (ckava1@msn.com).

I would avoid Farrah.

Also told me I had an autoimmune disease. Simple blood tests proved he was wrong. It seems if he doesn't know the answer he gets angry and hateful. I would not recommend this guy as a Veterinarian much less a Doctor.

I went to Dr. Farrar for the same condition (a ringing in my right ear) that my world-published Harvard-educated doctor in New England had already twice treated me for successfully with a specific medication (it went away 100%). I told him the same symptoms were coming up and that I was pretty sure the same thing was happening all over again. I was trying hard to remember the name of the medical condition my Harvard doctor told me but couldn't. Dr. Farrar was very impatient, quickly making up his mind that I had an autoimmune disease. I don't have any autoimmune disease and have no family history of autoimmune disease ever! Maybe I should have told him my previous doctor went to Harvard and knew exactly what he was doing, but I didn't want to insult him. I probably should have. I kept trying to emphasize that my condition had been treated twice successfully, but he kept interrupting me in mid-sentence, like a rude New Yorker who didn't want to hear anything otherwise and thought he couldn't possibly be wrong. And this guy is supposed to be a SPECIALIST. Guess what? I got out my old credit card receipts from years ago and found out my old Harvard doctor's name, and I have made an appointment to drive up to New England on a Friday, starting at 1 a.m. in the morning, for a 3 p.m. appointment in 6 weeks. Jesus, the cost of medical incompetence in Roanoke, Virginia. Remember that with Dr. Joshua Farrar, if you have something really, really important to say...it is entirely possible that he will choose not to listen to you, and when you try to insist that he be patient and just LISTEN, he will get rude and give you the hint that your visit is over. Depending on how serious your condition is, for the love of cutting-edge medicine, keep Googling. Please. You don't want to go on suffering, and you don't want to die.

I got recommended to see him by one of his fellow colleagues. I am so thankful I got someone that understands what happens in the human ear. When I had my first surgery he explained what was going on and why the surgery was necessary. I will always enjoy the appointment. Thank-you!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Farrar this morning. The appointment was set up as a referral a while back for a cyst that has since resolved itself. Unfortunately, I mistakenly thought the appointment was for a separate lingering issue and so I stupidly showed up prepared for a completely different experience. Dr. Farrar and his nurses were so very kind and understanding of my foolishness. They took the time to show concern of my issue even though they were not specialized in that particular arena. They scheduled a future appointment with a fellow colleague to cover my needs AND refunded my copay. I find Dr. Farrar to be a very genuine and caring professional. Recommend on morals alone. Bravo Dr.

Dr. Farrar was absolutely the most caring Dr. any of my children has ever seen.... After struggling with weeks of sleepless nights and countless scripts of eardrops from other docs, we took our one year old to the ER and DR. Farrar was the ENT on call... He placed the tubes in that night and our son felt instantaneous relief...He will be our family ENT in the future and I have confidence in him with my family

My son saw Dr. F. for the third time with the goal to schedule reconstructive surgery. He was lead to believe that he could end up worse off than prior to the surgery. He did not bother to examine my son nor did he look at a CT that he had requested be done prior to this visit. He came across as cold and insensitive. My son came away more depressed and discouraged and feeling hopeless. My opinion is that he could possibly be judgmental due to the fact his injury was self inflicted. I just do not understand his attitude. But I know it did considerable damage to my son.

Dr. Farrar is a true believer! the morning my son was scheduled for surgery (tonsil, adnoids taken out and tubes in ears) we prayed for God to be with the hands of the surgeon. We have not meet the dr. before and when he came in to introduce himself, i asked him how many surgeries like this he has done. he has only been in roanoke for 6mths. he was telling me and when he said all of his surgeries had been done with the help of GOD holding his hands!! that was an confermation!! then he asked our son if it would be ok to pray with him before his surgery!! i recomend him to anyone!!

My 16 month old boy was in agony trying to tear his ears off his head.. This had gone on for days. I had scheduled an appt to have tubes in his ears for Jan 10....However, he was in so much pain I took him to ER on the previous Friday night.. and Dr. Farrar immediately made the decision to put tubes in ASAP... I am grateful he didnt "wait til morning" but did it right on the spot at midnight.. He was extremely professional, caring and not least bit arrogant.. He is a welcome addition to Carillion!! and my son improved by the time he woke up
