Dr. Suryadevara may be a competent chemotherapy specialist, but is very rigid, conservative, and dismissive of medical opinions that do not concur fully with her own. She is impatient with her patients' chemo side effects like nausea and constipation, and makes no pretense at empathy. Perhaps this is because, as an oncologist, she sees many patients who have a low survival rate and she avoids getting personally invested, but I sense she is not a sympathetic person by nature. Whatever, she shows no concern for patients with severe side effects. Her staff is more sympathetic, but seem intimidated, thus the culture of the entire practice suffers. We called our supervising nurse at 9 AM because of severe pain from chronic constipation, but got no response; it turned out that a simple over-the-counter suppository solved the problem, but Dr. S had not authorized a response. Meanwhile her patient lay in agony on the bathroom floor for 2 hours. This is NOT a good doctor.

This doctor has no bedside manner. She didn't monitor my cancer with any scans over a five year period. My cancer came back; and by the time the symptoms appeared I was stage 4. I went to UCSF; who is monitoring my care and has stopped cancer from spreading. I wouldn't be in this predicament if she had monitored my care properly. Don't walk to another doctor; run!
