Biography

My grandmother lived with us when I was growing up. She had a lot of medical issues including breast cancer, dementia and diabetes. As both of my parents worked, I ended up being the one who took care of her, bathing her, giving her insulin, etc. I learned the humility of being a care giver and the vulnerability of being the patient. I also understood the trust and respect that someone gives you when they allow themselves to be cared for. I see all of my patients as “family” and treat them as I would expect my family to be treated. I believe that the doctor-patient relationship is a partnership. I try to guide patients to allow them to manage their issues and take ownership of them. I try to make myself available as needed as I understand the complex responsibilities on our patients today. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my three children, two greyhounds and one crazy cat. I recently started fencing saber with my daughter, and I also row crew competitively. I enjoy biking, hiking, camping and baking, as well.
