had him as an endocrinologist before I turned 20. I have major hormone imbalances and was insulin resistant. this combined with getting out of high school and losing my regular physical activities and poor mental health meant I was obese. He told me I had PCOS, (i already knew this) and asked if I knew what that meant. I began to try and explain what I knew already, he cut me off, told me that that wasn't exactly what it was, handed me a 3 page (one sided) print off on PCOS (which was less informative than what I had already begun to explain). he then proceeded to tell me that all of my symptoms were from being obese, and that I would be fine if I lost weight. He then pushed me to try and choose bariatric surgery. I explained that I wasnt willing to consider that option at the time, because not only had it not worked for my grandmother, but also because i have a huge family history of arthritis and fibromyalgia and other stuff that typically requires you to take anti inflammatories, something that you're not really supposed to take after bypass surgery. While I did not have those problems yet (remember, i wasnt even 20 yet!) I was aware that it would be likely i'd develop them later. he disregarded this and only recommended
surgery
