I have had the honor of dealing with David for a few years now and he has performed two different surgeries on me. I felt so comfortable and in good hands the whole time. David always went above and beyond and never rushed appointments. Highly recommended!!

Background: I am 30 years old, Male. Have suffered for the past 5 years with rampant sciatic nerve pain caused by a herniated disc at L4/L5. Saw David in mid 2020 and he recommended surgery.

Surgery: After ACC approved David performed the operation in May 2021. It took just under 2 hours.

Post op: Woke up in recovery and wiggled my toes - nerve pain was gone. Spent 2 nights in Grace hospital, was the best care I've ever received in any hospital.

Recovery: I'm 1 week out from the day of surgery. On day 5 the leg pain returned for an hour or two in the evening but in fairness I walked 2km that day and it subsided by morning and hasn't returned.

On Good Friday, I was severely attacked by a dog. Dr Ardern has been my surgeon from day 1. I was extremely impressed by his knowledge and the skills that him and his team demonstrated whilst I was under their care in hospital. They worked carefully to stitch my leg back up, preventing any infection over the course of 3 surgeries. A couple of months after the bite, I started to get pain and tightness in my leg again. I decided to return to Dr Ardern following the advice given to me by my physio. He was friendly and listened to what I had to say and we have now developed a plan. I will always recommend Dr Ardern, he's very good at what he does and explains everything in a way that patients can understand.
