So much better since she closed her practice at Princess Margaret Cancer Center. I got a reoccurrence and was so scared. I had alot of questions and she actually went out of her way to call me after clinic hours and patiently answered all of my questions. Dr. Elser knows her stuff and is up to date on new meds (cannot say the same about other doctors ----- as patients we do talk to one another about doctors, treatments, etc.. while waiting in the reception area). Her involvement in clinical trials is very beneficial to us patients.
Thanks!!!

One thing I would like to add is that as patients, we sometimes forget about the bureaucracy that exist at hospitals (just like any other business; it is a business at the end of the day $$$$). Please understand that the doctor does not schedule their patients, it is done by someone else (schedulers) who unfortunately overbook but it isn't their fault either; message comes from up above ($$$). The doctor to patient ratio set out by the higher ups is absurd especially working at two different cancer centers.

Keep up the good work Doc!!

I saw Dr Elser for consultation for breast cancer and BRCA diagnosis. She was on time for my appointment and took the time to clearly explain my diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options. I asked ALOT of questions and she answered them all and I never felt rushed. She won't make a decision for you but will give you the facts and her expertise and allow you the time to process this. I have felt rushed and unheard at many other oncologist appointments and this has not been my experience with her. She is very knowledgable in her field and I felt that I can trust her with my care. Others have commented that she is cold or rude but this has not been my experience at all. She is not overly warm or soft in any way but I find her to be very kind, empathetic and genuinely cares.

Dr. Elser is direct, friendly and very clear. She answers all my questions quickly. My experience has been very different to some of her critics. She is a knowledgeable compassionate professional, who cares about her patients and aims at providing the best treatment. Rely on your own experience rather than on these forum comments, which could be subjective, reflecting someone's unique personal attitude and experience not necessarily applicable to others.

Dr. Elser is a pleasant enough woman but totally ignored the only chemo symptom I had, which was potentially life-threatening. She doesn’t really answer a question but tells me whatever it is she wants to tell me even if it doesn’t adequately deal with the specific question. She left me hanging when an echocardiogram showed some very disturbing images; eventually a resident MD looked after it.
Her secretary at the time was Susan, who I found to be friendly and helpful.
Dr. Elser is still my oncologist but I use other docs for information and assistance. I was diagnosed early 2020 and am fine now.

Dr. Elser has been my rock as I’ve been negotiating the complex set of questions and decisions to arrive at a treatment plan. She explains everything thoroughly, takes my questions seriously, weighs risks and benefits thoughtfully, refers to current research as well as her clinical experience, and consults with colleagues to get a wider perspective. She is compassionate and attentive. I am incredibly grateful for the care she has given, and continues to give me.

Seems Dr. Elser garners a few negative reviews, maybe it's the nature of cancer practice, but I have only positive to say. She is concise, clearly explains treatment options and why she is recommending one over the other. Her team members are terrific resources for additional cancer/chemo issues. Dr. Elser thoughtfully answered my questions, she is an intelligent, kind oncologist. Her team is knowledgeable, informative. From what I can see, Dr. Elser is determined to do the best for patients.

Terrible horrible “doctor”. Changed my mom’s meds which caused her cancer to come back. We lost her because of this idiot doctor’s mistake. She literally has no emotions and bedside manner. She is a cold and heartless person. Has no knowledge of what she’s doing. Very condescending. My mom would have been alive today if it wasn’t for her. She should have her license taken away.

Having been Dr. Elser's patient since 2017, I have nothing but praise. She is caring and knowledgeable. I appreciate her expertise, and her bedside manner is at a high standard. We are lucky to have in Toronto such excellent cancer specialists; I wouldn't change to anyone else.

I have only had positive experiences with being a patient of Dr. Elser. I agree with the comments made on September 10, 2021 and June 11, 2021.
