Dr. Barry Zide did a phenomenal job removing a parotid gland tumor from my face. Through his exceptional skills as a Plastic Surgeon, he has brought me great relief, happiness, and profound gratitude. I had been diagnosed with a benign parotid gland tumor 8 years ago (pleomorphic adenoma) but I was afraid to have surgery because the traditional incision is very large and there is a risk of facial paralysis, as this type of tumor is very close to the facial nerve. I had tried natural treatments to shrink it, but unfortunately it only got larger. My sister took me to her Dermatologist Dr. Robin Oshman, who strongly advised me to have it taken out. She highly recommended Dr. Barry Zide, an outstanding Plastic Surgeon at NYU Langone in NYC. When I went for a consultation with Dr. Zide he told me that he could remove it with a face lift incision, and that he had done many of these procedures without any complications. I made an appointment that day to have surgery. Everything went very smoothly the day of the operation. I received excellent care from the nursing staff, but what was most comforting were Dr. Zide’s reassuring words, confidence, and kindness before the surgery. I was amazed that after the operation I didn’t need to take any pain medication and I didn’t have any swelling or bruising. At present I am very happy that everything is healing quickly. I was very fortunate to have found Dr. Barry Zide, a brilliant Plastic Surgeon and a wonderful person. It must be so rewarding for doctors to know that as a result of their many years of study and experience, they can achieve the ability to change someone’s life. I want Dr.Zide to know how much he has changed mine!

He’s amazing! My daughter had a hemangioma removed when she was very young. Dr Zide did an awesome job with reconstructed surgery on her face. She’s had a few surgeries since then and all surgeries were successful. He is extremely knowledgeable and he tells it like it is. I would highly recommend him.

Dr Zide performed an excision, tissue expansion, & removal on my sons bathing trunk nevus. He had told us there was a 95% complication rate at our consultation so that we knew what we were getting into. Sure enough my son was probably Dr Zide’s toughest case in all his years of doing this type of surgery. There were so many times we felt like giving up during the tissue expansion period. He ended up needing a port replacement due to bad bacteria around the port, he also externalized the new port. He was consistent in knowing what to do in every aspect of this case and performed miracles for us. We had one month left of tissue expansion and my sons skin started to rip (at no fault of Zides) and needed emergency surgery for removal. He got to remove almost all of it off even though we weren’t done. I’m sure we gave Zide a headache for 4 months but just know that appreciate you so much. We will be going back next year to finish removal (hopefully without tissue expanders).

Why would a "brilliant and innovative artist of the face," the "Einstein" of plastic surgery who "when he is gone there will be no other," according to his many glowing reviews, why would such a doctor feel a need to carry a Glock pistol on his hip at all times? Many aspects of Dr. Barry M. Zide are characteristic of The Dark Triad -- a dangerous combination of narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy. He has no moral conscience and is incapable of feeling guilt or remorse. Rather than moving him to concern or pity, the agonized cries of his victims only disgust and annoy him, like the crunching and oozing of hundreds of June bugs being crushed under his feet as he walks his path to money. His skills lie not in medicine or surgery, but in gamesmanship. He is good at playing games and he plays to win. Everything is a game to him, including the medical profession. Read his published writings. Pay special attention to the writings that he authors by himself. The writings in which he is named as co-author are almost entirely written by the other authors named in the writing. He understands systems. He understands how one system can be made to work with another system and how they can be manipulated and exploited. The medical system and the legal system are his specialties. He even invents systems, just makes them up in his evil mind. He has published systems to sell surgery, systems to con and bamboozle the public, systems that help bad doctors get away with the harm they do — for example by blaming patients’ complaints on the patient’s mental state instead of the harm caused by their doctor. For example, he will say the patient has "Body Dismorphic Disorder." This is a form of Gaslighting — a form of victim-blaming in which the perpetrator harms the victim, then argues that the victim is only imagining that he or she has been harmed. I repeat: read Zide’s writings. The plain English in which he writes cannot be misunderstood. With regard to his many positive reviews, Zide contracts with reputation management companies. He gives them an idea of what he wants and they handle the rest. Sometimes he even writes his own reviews. He lost his private practice when he was exposed as a fraud. NYU Langone took him in. They feed him patients (only unimportant ones) as they slowly carry him piggyback toward retirement. I end with a wish for the lowlife doctors and lowlife lawyers responsible for giving shelter and support to their lowlife "buddy": may they and their families be plagued by doctors who were taught by Professor Zide to make their own "top doctor plaques."

A nightmare. A maniac. Inappropriate language. Inappropriate behavior. Doesn’t answer questions. Doesn’t discuss pain management. Keeps dismissing your concerns. Every time you go for a post-surgical follow-up he tells you that you need another procedure TO FIX HIS MISTAKES. And it is never the same procedure he recommends because he forgets what he recommended before. During one of the follow-up procedures he kept aggressively shoving his hand in my mouth to give me painful injections. I was trying to pull his hand out of my mouth and he kept fighting me and refusing to answer my objections. The resident looked horrified. It was an assault and battery. The office staff was rude and non accommodating. They didn’t know what they were doing. The only civilized staff member was out on extended leave. I have worked with her for 20 years and she is the reason why I had gone back. Unfortunately she was out for a long time. I was going for surgery and I didn’t have any instructions. None of the office staff was willing or able to give me the information I needed. I called Dr. Eduardo Rodriquez. At first his secretary refused me access. But I persisted and she finally got others involved. They all acted like I was bothering them. ZIde and Rodriquez are good friends with the chief. Zide should have been forced to retired a long ago and it is like they put him there to get him out of the hospital because he is so dangerous. DO NOT GO TO HIM. My inner sense told me not to trust Zide. It was the resident who convinced me that Dr. Zide was an excellent Surgeon. BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT DR. BARRY ZIDE IS A QUACK!! I had seen one review on a site and there was another patient complaining on the surgery and it was never fixed. I feel the same way. I was so sorry I went to NYU. They are suppose to have an excellent program. They left anchors in my head telling me that would dissolve, but they didn’t . I had to push on them every night. I was getting violent pains and headaches and shooting nerve pain for 6 months which intensified each month. Finally they took them out. They were like nails dropping on the metal tray. The pain on the night of the procedure was unbearable. I was not warned about this nor was I given any pain management. It was awful. Dr. Rodriquez, the chief of a department and friend of Zide seems to have saved him, but in saving his friend he has done a great injustice to the public as well as to NYU. Dr. Barry Zide is a menace to patients and NYU. Zide is an evil quack. Run to another facility. The good reputation of the old NYU has been destroyed by doctors like Zide. Shame on NYU.

Truly rude and dismissive. I had concerns that were not addressed. Beyond horrible bedside manner. Gave me an extra long scar on the side of my face claiming it would mimic the smile line of the other side. It absolutely didn’t do that. I also received a chin implant that hurts to this day. He was unprofessional and started injecting things into my mouth and gums in the waiting room, before I was even under anesthesia. When I shared my concern about receiving a second “brush up” surgery from him he cussed me out on the phone using multiple explicatives. He was yelling and putting a lot of pressure on me to follow through with the second surgery. He said if I pushed back this surgery he would never let me be his patient again and that if I changed my mind he wouldn’t take me back. I have never in my entire life experienced someone so unsympathetic, self-absorbed and unprofessional In the medical field. I regret the first surgery. Absolutely regret it. Do not go to him.

Much has been made of Dr. Barry M. Zide's published medical writings, many of which are published in the medical journal "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery". The writings seem to be of two types: how to DO surgery and how to SELL surgery. The how to SELL type he always authors by himself. The how to DO type he mostly appears as co-author. The two types are of an entirely different character, language and subject matter. The writings that he co-authors seem reasonable and professional. The writings for which his name alone appears as author promote grossly unethical methods of attracting new patients. It seems obvious that in the articles in which he is named as co-author that Dr. Zide does none of the writing and is in effect being carried piggyback by his co-authors, and that the only writings he deserves credit for are the highly unethical ones that he writes by himself.

If Barry Zide is such a great surgeon, whatever happened to his private practice, located at 420 E 55th Street? Why is he now working out of Langone Heath, located at 305 E 33rd Street? If he is such a world renowned expert, why does he no longer own the websites "chinsurgery", "hemangioma" and "giantnevus"? Has he given up representing himself as the chin expert, the hemangioma expert, the giant nevus expert? In my opinion, having the nasty old fraud "practice medicine" under the watchful eye of hospital personnel is the next best thing to having him give it up altogether.

I went to do a belly lift with him and he did a horrible job. After the procedure my belly button was crooked and the scar was not flat or straight. He caused me to lose my self esteem.
