I cannot rave enough about Dr. Walsh. He is available, kind, thoughtful and everything one would look for in your child's doctor. Feel lucky to have him on our team.

I have worked with multiple Psychiatrists in past. I found Dr. Walsh's approach not only helpful but also refreshing compaired my bland minimally engaging past experiences

Dr. Walsh is a smart guy. That being said, his skill set lies in medication management and not in psychotherapy. He is utterly narcissistic in a way that detracts from your time and space as a patient in the room-often telling, and retelling, stories about his life that are hard to connect to your own experience. Dr. Walsh adheres to a medical model in which the doctor knows all and knows best. Psychotherapy has evolved to a place where the patient is no longer considered the only flawed, "sick" individual in the room and has been shown to be most effective when treatment is a collaborative process where the power differential between therapist and patient is minimized. Unfortunately, playing doctor fits neatly into Dr. Walsh's grandiose view of himself.

Very smart but not compassionate. Ontime, but cancels appointments without notice. Talks a lot about himself. Inconsistent. Made a very bad situation for me, much, much worse. Hurt me more than I can explain or even understand and has never, never tried to help to repair the damage. Perhaps he just does not care or really does not understand how vulnerable people are when they come to a psychiatrist. It is possible he is one of those people that can never really see what he is doing that is exacerbating a situation, but "insight" should be one of the most important qualities in a shrink. I see him more in a teaching profession, academia where the "one to one" is less important. Be careful though, he can "outthink" you and it is difficult to see clearly through that.
