My experience is very similar to the below commenter. Zero empathy, the meanest doctor I have ever seen. Trash talked my prior neurology practice, a practice he says he used to work for, as well as insulted all "Millennials," saying they just "wanted drugs dumped in their face," did not listen to my history.
Unprofessional in the extreme: He stated I should try more drugs in a class that I had a very bad reaction to. He said side effects are very rare and I said others have them as well which I looked up, and his response to that was pointing to a mug that said "don't confuse your Google search with my medical degree." It was a shocking interaction. He should not be in a patient facing role at this point in his career. Very antagonistic, bullying, unprofessional, defensive and mocking. Don't know if it was about me being female or younger than him but it seems the below commenter was a couple and he was equally rude. Hands down worst experience I have had in thirty years of seeing neurologists. To cap it off, when I said that bringing out the mug was upsetting, said he would have to refer me to a "nicer" colleague (conveniently in his same practice which he owns!).

After having a TIA, I was hopeful he would have some suggestions about meds I might be able to take, after having reactions to 4 statins. He left the exam room door open during my entire visit so the entire office could hear our conversations. He took my BP over a thick jacket and sweater...once. Without explaining how statins work, he did not pay any attention to my being sensitive to most meds, and did nothing but insult me. When my doctor husband asked a question, he shouted at him, "DOCTOR, you need to go back to medical school. You should know the answer to that!" Not realizing his medical school was in an era before statins! While ushering us out, he stood by the open door, shouting at me in a loud angry voice, "If you don't take them(statins) you will die!"...loudly enough for anyone to hear, next to the next patient room with her door open. When I asked to have him show me what he saw on my two MRI's, since I was in the radiology field all my life, his response was, "It would take me 20 minutes to do that!" REALLY? It does not take that long, Dr. Katz, and we supposedly paid to have you go over those records, and he ushered us out the door. This after he does not take insurance. I learned nothing from that expensive, $415, rude visit and came home scared I might have a full blown stroke, with no alternatives open for me to do. Dr. Katz, it is you who needs to attend the class on empathy! We later called a doctor friend who explained HOW statins work and to try taking a half dose to lead up to a whole. That has worked now for 4 days. Dr. Katz, you might have suggested that rather than your high and mighty attack on me. Shame on you Dr. Katz! I would NEVER recommend you to anyone!

Dr Katz was very helpful. I have MS and migraines and he was the only doctor who listened and changed my medicine. I feel much better now.

WHILE IT TURNED OUT THAT NOTHING MUCH CAN BE DONE ABOUT MY CONDITION, HE TRIED EVERYTHING KNOWN AND SEEMED GENUINELY CONCERNED. LOWERED HIS USUAL RATES WHEN INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER

I woke up one morning and could only see my wife's nose. Everything else was blank. We got an appointment with my opthomologist that day. He sent me to Dr. Katz the next day. Dr. K did a series of tests for my Idiopathic Optical Neuropathy and prescribed medication. I have continued to see him and my vision has gone from 20/1000 to 20/100. He is thorough, answers all of my questions and explained some experimental treatments with the pros and cons. Donald Behe

I was seeing Dr. Katz as a neuro-ophthalmologist, as I had a problem with binocular vision due to a muscle disorder. He was nice personally, but did not bother to measure anything with my eyes. Instead, he spent all his energy to disprove my general neuromuscular diagnosis. Naturally, he did not offer any alternatives. As to my vision problem, that had ruined my driving, he simply laughed at me saying that I was making fuss over nothing. He told my double vision was b/c of "strong lenses in my glasses" and "it will go away with contact lenses". Needless to say, it remained with contacts. I was later referred to a different neuro-ophthalmologist. Not only that doctor, but his assistant first measured the misalignment in my eyes with simplest instrumentation. I was prescribed prismatic glasses and was back to normal driving. When I asked for my records from Dr. Katz's office, I was astonished to find every possible thing re-told incorrectly -just like that in the previous comment.

A dedicated doctor who really cares about all of his patients. He is on call 24/7 for his patients. Even though he dropped my insurance, I still see him and pay out of pocket. Worth every cent and then some. They don't make doctors like this anymore.

I have been a patient of DR.katz for over 10 years. Recently i was badly injured and very concerned from my unbearable pain... He not only did not return my calls nor treat me with rescect that if he could not be my dr. anymore to reffer me to someone else. when I came to the office to pick up my medical reports after calling daily for over 2 weeks and leaving messages. his secratary was extremly rude hung up on me on the phone several times. i went to the office read over my medical reports he had written.... EVERYTHING he wrote as completly incorrect, i was trying to get workmans comp b/c i was hurt on the job and b/c he was inaccurate and flat out ignored my symtoms and my occupation. My workmans comp was denied. I would not expect this from a Dr who has been treating me for 12 years. I am outraged. Dr are supposed to listen and treat. Who can we trust? If you go to him a report right away. Who knows what he rights on your record!
