My partner had been under the care of Dr. Kirimis for a little more than 2 months last year. He is one of those patients that experienced many, and serious, side effects from oral chemotherapy that affected his mental and emotional health, as well as his physical. The last time he visited this office, he had a follow-up appointment—two weeks after having to discontinue chemotherapy due to his body's extreme intolerance to it.

I was waiting for him at the office when he arrived four (as in 4) minutes late to his appointment. He was turned away by the receptionists who said, "Dr. Kirimis doesn't accept anyone who is more than one (1!) minute late. You will have to reschedule." Really?

While I certainly understand the need to maintain timely scheduling: a) at no time during any of our visits were we informed about this harsh and rigid policy, and; b) it was obvious from appearance alone that my partner was extremely ill and should have been shown a modicum of compassion. Yet it was like a brick wall at that front desk. This is not a bikini-waxing salon that needs to churn out 4-6 appointments an hour to maintain profitability. This is a specialty physicians' group that is supposed to be offering a high level of care to patients in dire need of their expertise—and they bill accordingly. The callousness was shocking.

If the employees at the front desk had cared enough to have taken a closer look, they would have noticed that it likely took this man, who was relatively robust several months ago, more than 10 minutes to shuffle from the parking structure to the office. The poor guy looked like he'd aged 20 years in 3 months—largely caused by the treatment he received from this office (his new oncologist, btw, stated that Kirimis had likely "overdosed" him by adhering to older dosing protocols that have been deemed, literally, overkill.)

Yet, nothing. Nobody cared. There was no offer to check with the doctor to see if she could still see him, just a "move along" attitude and dismissal. They literally turned their backs to him. It's obvious that the receptionists were just enforcing a practice-wide policy, and are probably also not treated well by this horrible woman, but what kind of caregiver(s) implements this type of unyielding rule when dealing with a populace of gravely ill patients?

To his credit, when he was turned away, my partner declined to reschedule and stated that he would find another oncologist...one with compassion. He found an exceptional one—and a doctor who told him that he didn't need chemotherapy for his type of tumor. Eighteen months later he is still cancer free. So Kirimis overmedicated him, didn't support him, almost let him die, and then turned her back on him. For nothing.

For the record, Dr. Kirimis never reached out to him to see how he was, to ask why he wasn't coming back, or to help him make the transition out of her practice.

We were told that Dr. Kirimis is a skilled oncologist, but the patient care offered by her practice is abysmal. Would not recommend.

She doesn't have a good way to relate to patients.
