Dr. Mendes was extremely nice and comforting. Figured out what was wrong with my knee in five minutes. Would recommend to anyone reading this!

After I waited a total of 55 min-45 min. in a cubicle with nothing to read, I left. If the doctor was running an hour late, I should have been called. Poorly run office.

After waiting for a hour plus in a johnny-I threw on clothes and left. Ladies in front take about other patients. If doctor had a problem or emergency, someone should have communicated with me.

I visited Dr Mendes because of painin my rt leg . I had had previous visits regarding my left knee . While I waited , 5 other patients came in to see Dr Mendes also .Xrays of my Legs were done in a timely fashion .When The doctor came in , he did not ask me what was bothering me bur assumed that it was the oseo- arthritis in my knee .I noted a area on my fibula and asked about it .He said that it was a fracture but made no other explanation . Since I had not sustained any injury to that area , I was slow to respond, thinking it might not be my xray .He left the examining room and returned with and administered a steroid injection. He mentioned 3 therapiesfor treatment of the oseo-arthritis , b ut did not explain or recomment any of them . Shortly after that ,I went to NC for the holidays . I began to have pain and swelling of the leg . I wanted a second opinion , so I called the office to get my record and the xrays . I was referred to a secretary and left a message but received no return call . I made 3 more calls and left messages ,but got no replies .When I finally got to ths secretary through other staff members, She said she would fax my recoprd but it would take weeks to copy and send the xrays ( for a fee). She would not release the actual Xrays to me

Dr. Mendes decided after 2 visits he was not secure in doing my hip replacement correction. This even though his partner Dr. Chase said no problem on my visit with him, Dr. Chase even gave me the paperwork to go to the hospital and do all necessary pre admission testing and wanted to give me a date for my surgery but he wanted me to see Dr. Mendes first since he would be doing the surgery. Saw Dr. Mendes once and he had me go for blood work and an MRI. When I went back said he felt he was not secure doing my surgery and should go to see a certain doctor in Hackensack and see what that doctor said. Will not go to see that dr in Hackensack and will never go back to Dr. Mendes again

My experience with Dr.Mendes was very positive. My waiting time has never been unreasonable. The staff is helpful and friendly both in the office and over the phone. Dr. Mendes treated me with respect and professionalism. He was accurate in diagnosing and successfully treating my multiple orthopedic ailments. He gave me treatment options, explaining pros and cons to each option without rushing me into anything. Unfortunately, my insurance changed to NJBC/BS and he doesn't participate in that plan. My biggest regret is that I didn't follow his treatment recommendation before my insurance changed. I need surgery and don't know where to turn. HELP!!
