Biography
I provide individualized care, with the highest level of integrity, to each patient affected by voice, swallowing, and airway disorders. I bring cutting edge knowledge and techniques to patient care. Most importantly, I approach patient care with a team philosophy that incorporates the patient, family, and other healthcare practitioners into the decision making process.
I called Dr. Clary's office in Cherry Creek for a strange pain in my throat when swallowing and have a history of thyroid cancer. At my appointment, I specifically told the intake receptionist that I have a major medical PPO that has specific rules for coverages. I demanded to be informed of any cost upfront for any possible procedure. My insurance also clearly spells out this. Dr. Clary came into the office and immediately engaged in chit chat. He was friendly and in retrospect overly friendly. he felt my neck and then while asking me about my background and more small talk asked me to open wide real quick.....he then put an instrument down my throat and said breath. 45 seconds later he said I had a small polyp on the vocal fold. My insurance Co. pays all but a $75.00 co pay for procedures. However, they must be done in a lab. I got a bill for $1240 bucks a month later. I never realized or agreed to "his procedure." He without my consent did this in his office. At no time did I agree. Had I known he was doing a "procedure" I could easily have had an outpatient appointment and paid $75.00 bucks. Instead....He did not obtain prior insurance approval, did not notify me I was even having a procedure and misdirected me with chit chat. I called his office and emailed him. His billing office hung up on me when I asked for proof of my consent. Please beware. ...you can have the friendliest doctor in the world but $1240.00 bucks for a 45 second open your mouth is something you want to avoid. My gut tells me this is not the first time Dr. Clary has done this or will it be the last.
