Biography

Hello! I'm David Bell, greeting you from beautiful Newport Beach, California. At Orthognathic Surgery MD, I dedicate my practice to transforming lives through advanced orthognathic jaw surgery. My approach not only enhances facial aesthetics but also improves breathing, chewing efficiency, and long-term stability—offering a permanent solution to conditions like obstructive sleep apnea. From a young age, I've been passionate about creating and designing—beginning with model airplanes and evolving into architecture and fine arts. This childhood fascination turned into a fulfilling career in jaw surgery, where I find immense joy in enhancing the lives of others. With over a decade of experience in a hospital setting, I've developed innovative surgical techniques. Currently and to my knowledge, I am the only surgeon globally performing five-piece mandibular osteotomies. This technique significantly improves facial structure by radially expanding the mandible (lower jaw) and drastically improving airway function, reflecting my commitment to groundbreaking solutions in facial surgery. I'm incredibly grateful to have been trained on this technique firsthand. Whenever possible, I perform surgery prior to orthodontic treatment. This is known as a "surgery-first" approach. This allows you to return to your daily life feeling rejuvenated and confident by lessening treatment time and discomfort, and by accelerating recovery.. I believe jaw surgery is more than cosmetic enhancement—it's about improving every aspect of your life, from breathing to social interactions, to being able to fully express your beautiful sense of self and being.
