My wife, Ruth, lost her life suddenly in November of 2021, a few days after seeing Dr. Eager for breathing difficulties.

Dr. Eager failed to do due diligence for Ruth by not reviewing my dear wife's prior medical history--which was in his charts and resided in his own portable computer--which I had to show him after Ruth's sudden death.

Inside Dr. Eager's examination room computer, Ruth listed her concerns and conditions and medications and genetic risk factors she struggled with for so long.

We both thought we trusted Dr. Eager and eagerly followed his course of medication.

But Ruth died suddenly 3 days into a 4-day course of the antibiotics he prescribed for her.

Had Dr. Eager simply taken another minute and looked in his computer under the tab that detailed my wife's medical condition, her concerns and her conditions, then Dr. Eager would have had a more comprehensive understanding upon which to dialogue with her and properly treat her--and the outcome of my wife's visit to him would not have ended in her sudden death a few days later.

This information--hiding in plain sight to Dr. Eager--would have resulted in an elementary lab test along with results that would clarify just what her overall health was--and what risks she was facing at that very moment.

He didn't take that extra minute.

I know because when I visited Dr. Eager after my wife died, it was I who showed him in his own computer the conditions my wife was living with. He was quite surprised to have missed this important information which was in his own laptop--information he himself input.

Do not doctors ever prepare for their patients visits?

Or is that asking too much? Like educating themselves about the patient they are about to see before even ENTERING the examination room?

Good doctors do just that - they prepare. They know too well the consequences of a careless diagnosis. They are meticulous, thorough, persistent and top in their field. A stellar physician investigates everything in their patient's recent history logs- and they dialogue with their patient so as to avoid hasty, expedient and fatal treatment protocols.

Obviously, Dr. Eager does just enough to "get by" in today's medical profession.

He grabs the file and reads it --or a part of it in my dear wife's case--as he walks into the examination room.

Again, I had to point out to Dr. Eager--on the doctor's own computer--information he missed that would have saved my wife's life.

As a result of his complacency, Dr. Eager missed some obvious clues and simply prescribed an antibiotic--and super doses of cortisol--for my wife's lung condition. In and out in less than 20 minutes. Even the x-ray report recommended further investigation.

My wife died in the ER from breathing difficulties--just 1000 feet from Dr. Eager's office--on day 3 of his 4-day prescription for her lung problem. She did not deserve this from one to whom she entrusted her life. She is missed by hundreds and hundreds of loved ones, but especially by me and our four children.

Our loss, sorrow, shock, trauma, expense and grief I never wish upon anyone.

Incidentally, I am still waiting to hear from the Medical Leadership of VMFH who read my letter of Sept 3, 2022.

In that letter, I raised a couple of simple questions. Questions I want answered.

To date no one from upper VMFH Leadership has reached out to me in person with the answers I requested.

    Thank you.
