For the first visit with this man I had to wait for about two hours. None of the staff asked me if I wanted to reschedule since the doctor is behind. Finally when I got to see him, he didn't seemed to care to apologize for being late for two hours. Then my second visit to see the results for EEG and MRI which were done a week ago , he said he didn't have a chance to see the EEG results yet so he said he's going to call me later. Then why even bother asking me to coming for the results if they're not ready yet? So unorganized and unreliable, incompetent (because he ruled out the possibility of autism at first even I told him that's the reason I was for). He's very good at wasting my time and money for sure. Yes, it could've been just fine talking to my pcp instead. He definitely did not help me at all.

Avoid this man at all costs!

I went to see him for sudden onset headaches. It took a month before I could see him for my first appointment, (which he was an hour late for) and when I finally saw him he only listened to the first couple of symptoms I mentioned before he made an assumption about what my problem was. He told me I needed an MRI and gave me the number for the hospital scheduling center. BUT it took him or his office over a week to send over the order for the MRI so I had to keep calling every day to see if I could finally schedule it. Two weeks after my initial visit with him I had the MRI and two weeks later I saw him again. He charged me for an office appointment ONLY so that he could tell me that I needed to schedule a lumbar puncture. That’s right, he wasted my time and money just so he could tell me in person that I needed another test. He could have called, but telephones might be too technologically advanced for him.

After standing me up for the first appointment (where I showed up to the hospital and waited for an hour) and forcing me to reschedule, he did the LP himself, which he botched (I still have pain over a month later), so I had to have it done a second time by a radiologist. Thankfully the hospital made it happen the same day, and the radiologist was fabulous. I don’t have pain at the site of his LP.

My MRI and LP were both negative, and at this point Dr. Erlich gave up on running any more test, consulting or sending me to another doctor or specialist, or providing any other theories on what could be causing my mysterious headaches. So he prescribed me a low dose of antidepressants which are supposed to help with headache pain (they’re not, by the way) and told me to come back in three months to see how I was feeling.

Now I’m still in pain and have lost a lot of my faith in doctors because of him. If he can’t be bothered to learn the new updated record keeping system for the hospital, it only makes sense that he can’t be bothered to help someone unless their ailment is already diagnosed (like alzheimer’s or a stroke, both of which I’m sure he would apply some textbook medicine to).

I don’t normally write negative reviews, I don’t think that a company or person should suffer just because some little thing didn't go my way when I did business at a particular restaurant or establishment. But I think people need to be warned about Dr. Erlich. Stay away from him! Find any other doctor you can even if you have to wait a little longer for an appointment. At least then you know that months of your life won’t be wasted putting faith in this man.

Dr. Erlich does really know his stuff when it comes to neurology and he's actually a pretty nice guy, but he consistently runs at least an hour or more behind schedule. The magazine selection in the office isn't much, so be sure to bring a good book. Part of the reason he's always behind could be because he likes to talk, but not about what you came to see him for. Be prepared for a half hour conversation about sports or the real estate market instead.
