I supported my dad, who is 85 and has multiple myeloma, during a recent stay at Lutheran Hospital. Unfortunately, my dad was Dr. Archard’s patient for a few days. One of the reviewers on another site described Dr. Archard as self-important and pompous. I would wholeheartedly agree with that statement and add that he exudes a “Doctor as God” mentality, seemingly viewing every question as a personal affront and responding with arrogant hostility. When I asked Dr. Archard why my dad wasn’t feeling better after three days of treatment, he angrily impugned me and indicated my question was ludicrous. He clearly perceived my question as some sort of personal challenge and demeaned and shamed me for for having the audacity to ask it. Dr. Archard also insisted my dad was doing quite well, and he was bent on discharging him the next day. The next day, my dad’s oncologist strongly advised that he not be discharged due to extreme neutropenia. Beware of Dr. Archard!

He seemed caring but turned out to be a monster. He completely misdiagnosed me.
