Dr. Hurst is generally a nice guy but one mistake and a horrible front office person makes this place terrible. Dr. Hurst told me he was giving me 12 months with of a script I must take every day (not a narcotic). I talked to him for 10 min about thinking about going off this med because you experience bad withdrawal if you don't have it every day, he said to stay on it. Well, he actually sent in only 6 months to my pharmacy but told he 12. This wasn't me mishearing because, for another script I take, he sent in 12 months. So of course, at six months I run out, on a Saturday and find out from the pharmacy I don't have any more refills (you never get a paper script anymore).
Well, Saturday became an emergency to get this med. I call their office which was open and explained the situation. The admin person just took my number and said bye. When I asked, "What are you going to do", and she replies, "Are you out of it?". When I replied, "yes", she began to lecture me that I should give them more notice. Remember, this was their mistake. I said, "Look, I have to take this med. every day". Then, she said, "Don't raise your voice with me, I'm hanging up now", and hung up on me. I had to have my wife call back and see what was going on because they would not answer my calls.
I'm not an unreasonable crazy person and this is how I was treated in my time of need. Avoid this office. They seem to miss the point that they claim to provide medical "care". Now, you could probably go in and have one good apt at this office, but what happens when you have a medical problem or they make a mistake? You don't want to have to deal with medical people that hang up on you, trust me. Whether or not Dr. Hurst is good is kind of irrelevant if his front-office is terrible because they control access to him. If you can't get basic help, what's the point?
