My be a good Doctor but cut my daughters colon while doing a D&C. Sent her home and she ended up having to go to the emergency room the next morning, in which they admitted her for emergency surgery. She stayed in ICU for 11 days. Have to have home health nurse to come to her house 3 days a week to change her bandage for the open incision to drain. Had surgery leaving her with an ostomy and wearing a bag for 3 months. She was a very sick woman.

Dr Blanton is very very knowledgeable. I have been with her for over 18 years. She has delivered all 4 of my children as well but I am looking for a new doctor because I feel like she is too rushed, doesn't take adequate time to explain any diagnoses (hands out pamphlets though) and is too focused on issues my GP is already addressing. When I lost over 80 pounds and began to have irregular cycles, it took my GP to explain my treatment options and allow me to try a couple of them. Dr Blanton insisted that my cycles had normalized since weight loss but it was the exact opposite and if she had taken adequate time with me as an individual, she would have seen that reflected in my records. I am at a stage in my life where I need real, individualized answers. Even with the birth of my children, although she was very very kind and caring, I just feel like there could have been a better focus on my birth requests rather than have me lie in bed for hours and end up with multiple c-sections. If you don't need a lot of explanation or one on one attention, Dr Blanton is a superb option, though. Just not for me anymore.

I've been going to Dr. Blanton for more than a dozen years and she's always been quite helpful. Once she did not disclose possible side-effects of a medication that gave me recurring issues for some months after, but that was one medicine, several years ago. She is my longest standing physician and I trust her judgement. Wish they would do something about wait times (which are ridiculously long). It's hard not to feel that they do not value your time.

Dr. Blanton has been my doctor for the past three years for basic gyn exams and issues. She is knowledgable and referred me to the necessary specialist when needed, but I have decided to switch doctors. I have had concerns about irregular periods while on birth control and I don't feel comfortable with the way it was handled. I was given only one possible explanation (bc side effect). When I tried to understand what might be going on, my concerns were brushed off. Yet at the same time I was given a pregnancy test every time I brought this up, and my bc dosage was increased. Also, I can understand having some waiting time, but I have consistently had to wait at least an hour for every appointment, even when I schedule an early AM appointment to avoid this issue. As for the nursing staff - some of the nurses are very friendly and polite, while others have seemed almost standoffish. Time to move on, I need a more approachable doctor who shows interest in my concerns.

Being a surgeon myself I wanted an experienced and knowledgeable gynecologist. I put my care in her hands and I don't worry but then I follow her treatment protocols because I know she is right. I highly recommend her. You would be lucky to have her care for you. I could go to any gyncologist of my choice but I would never change doctors. She is too solid a physician.

Dr. Blanton has been my doctor for 31 years and is the most compassionate, caring physician I have ever been too. Her wait time may be a little lengthy but she gives you her Undivided attention and all the time necessary to answer questions and give honest recommendations. While I have never delivered a child she was the doctor to deliver the news that I would never give birth. She told me that I could be anything I wanted to be and do anything wanted to do and she could see great things in my future. She was ultimately correct and I have never regretted her diagnosis or her advice. If you don't want to wait, make an appointment first thing in the am or her first appointment after lunch. I will continue to see Dr. Blanton until she retires, which I'm hoping is no time soon. Her new office is beautiful and modern too.

I have been w/ Dr. Blanton for over 10 years. She is very strict but for the right reasons. She cares about her patients and is bold enough to tell you the truth about your life as a whole and how it is or could effect your health - good or bad. You do experience a longer than normal wait, but she is completely worth it. She is extremely knowledgable and will refer you to another MD if your matter is not in her area of expertise. She has delivered all 4 of my children and I have NEVER had any problems with her deliveries. She is very caring about you as a WOMAN. To sum it up: To get good, quality healthcare, you will have to determine what is important to you. Dr. Blanton's office offers a healthy mix of all things important to me. I will continue with her until she retires as long as she is in practice here in Richmond.

Mistake not to interview this Dr. first, before exam. Her communication skills are lacking. Stated my goals and she proceeded to give me an exam knowing full well she would refuse to help me, but she could still would bill me. Also the wait time was long, it was hard to find the office and very impersonal. Sorry I spent my health care dollars here.
