Dr. John Castiello, MD's Credentials

Biography

Dr. Castiello is an Optometrist that has practiced over 30 years in San Diego area. His conscientious and caring manner has been appreciated by his patients for many years. He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, then graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with an Internship at a Low Vision Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Castiello has a certification for the use of diagnostic and theraputic drugs in addition to his glaucoma certification. He had an article published in the "Optometric Weekly" on the use of contact leses. He has a continued passion for learning and enrolls in many continuing education courses. He especially has an interest in learning about and treating patients with dry eye conditions. Dr Castiello enjoys helping people and tries to put his patients at ease while getting the best possible visual outcome. His most important and yet most basic principle is: "treat patients as I would like to be treated"! Dr. Castiello speaks optometric Spanish and has been providing eye exams in Spanish for many years. He is happy to move to San Diego as he has had bad experience battling the snow in sub-zero degree weather in Philadelphia. On his free time, he enjoys playing baseball and football. However, he recently learned that he is a much better spectator than player. He is now a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
